Season ends for BCHS football.

Bleckley saw their season end in the three-team mini playoff Monday night at West Laurens.  Taking on Washington County, it was scoreless after two five-minute periods.  In overtime, the Golden Hawks blocked an extra point.  BCHS lost 10-9, their third straight by seven points or less.  They finish 6-5, 3-4 in 3-AA.

BCHS cheerleaders competing at sectionals Friday.

It was a tough day for BCHS at the Central Georgia Region Cheerleading Championship held Saturday at West Laurens.  Read more here.  Friday, the squad will be at the Columbus Civic Center for sectionals.  It starts at 9 am, Bleckley competes seventh.

BCHS girls repeat as cross country champs, boys finish third.

BCHS girls repeat as cross country champs, boys finish third.

For the first time in school history, BCHS has had two teams repeat as state champions.  The Runnin' Royals girls cross country team won their second straight state title Saturday in Carrolton.  Austin Lopez became the first girls individual state champion since Ashley Arnold.  The boys finished third, Garrett Rogers won the boys individual title.

Three-team mini playoff to decide third, fourth seeds in 3-AA.

Bleckley lost their final regular season football game at Southwest 26-21 Friday night.  Read more about the game here.  Because of the loss, and Dublin beating Washington County, BCHS, Southwest and Waco are tied in region play at 3-3.  Dodge County is top seed.

To determine third and fourth seeds, a three-team mini playoff will be held Monday night at West Laurens.  The first game is at 6 pm between Waco and Southwest.  It will consist of two five-minute periods.  Thirty minutes after that game, BCHS takes on the loser in another mini playoff.  If the Royals win, they're in the playoffs.

Head to head matchups between the winning teams will determine the third and fourth seeds.

Making science and math fun.

Making science and math fun.

Science and math are tough subjects for many students.  But at Bleckley Elementary's Science and Math nigth, students got to see the fun side of both.  Teachers, students from BCHS physics and honors calculus classes, as well as professors and students from Middle Georgia State University had a variety of games, experirments, and activities to demonstrate the different uses of math and science.

Local travel team Crush works out with Middle Georgia State softball.

Local travel team Crush works out with Middle Georgia State softball.

Crush 04 recently changed their name to Middle GA Crush 04 to help differentiate themselves from numerous travel softbal teams with the name "Crush."  This week, players got some valuable experience, working out for three nights with the Middle Georgia State Knights softball team.  "It was a great experience for our girls," said head coach Kevin Wimberly.  The team will be in action Saturday at the USSSA Cordele Slam.

Bleckley NAACP Youth Council Freedom Fund Banquet.

The Bleckley NAACP Youth Council Freedom Fund Banquet will be November 11 at 5 pm in the Cochran-Bleckley Rec.
