Season ends for Bleckley 8u baseball.

The season ended for the 8u baseball team in the Dixie Youth state finals this past weekend in Cochran.  Bleckley won their opeing game against Troup County 5-3.  Saturday, they lost 7-5 in seven innings to Jones County-Purple and were eliminated by Swainsboro 7-5.  BC finishes third, the best for 8u since starting Dixie Youth.

 

Also: the first opponent for 12u softball has changed.  According to the bracket posted on quickscores.com, Bleckley will now play Putnam County July 11 at 10 am.

Middle GA Crush disbanding, will join Prospex Softball organization.
Middle GA Crush 04 players and families got together for an end of season party Friday night. As part of the season recrap, it was announced the team would be disbanding and they would join Alabama-based Prospex Softball. Head coach Kevin Wimberly said Prospex was expanding into Georgia and they would be one of the first teams to play as part of the organization. He said the coaching staff would remain the same (Wimberly, Brian Krieg, Bob Rickerson) and hoped the new team would include players currently with Crush. Tryouts will be held in August.

Bleckley Summer Theatre Camp performing Annie July 13-15.

Bleckley Summer Theatre Camp will hold performances of this year's selection "Annie, jr" July 13-15 at House of Grace Church, 133 Jac Arts Road. Showtimes are at 7 pm on Friday, 2 and 7 pm on Saturday, and 3 pm on Sunday. Admission is $5 adults, $3 for children 10 and under.

For the second straight year, the skies in rural Bleckley County were lit up for the Fourth of July as Warrior's Harvest on GA 112 held a fireworks show.  To see photos, click here.

Bleckley All Star teams begin chase for championships Friday.

The Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department has four all star teams still in action.  July 6 will begin their chase for championships as 8u baseball will be in the Dixie Youth Pee Wee Coach Pitch finals played in Cochran.  Bleckley finished as second seed last in last weekend's pool play.  They open with Troup County that night at 6:30pm.

 

GRPA state begins for softball teams July 10.  In Hazlehurst, 10u softball will play Alma-Bacon County at 5 pm.  The 12u takes on Brantley County at 3:45 pm.  The 8u open state that night in Sylvania at 6 pm against Brantley County.

Cochran church hosting youth event July 9-13.

Strong Tower Church located at 186 East Dykes Street will host "4th Night.  The Battle is over...What Now?" July 9-13 from 6:30-9 pm for middle and high school students.  Several guest speakers including Elder Scott Allen from House of Grace and Bleckley County High School head football coach Von Lassiter.  Register for the event by clicking here.
