Help Bleckley's first state Special Olympics athlete "Domi-NATE" at state.

Bleckley County High School Sophomore Nate "The Great" Johnson is the first Special Olympics athlete to make it to state. He'll be competing at the Atlanta Invitational April 13 and the state finals May 18-19 at Emory University. Help support Nate by purchasing a "Domi-NATE" T-Shirt. Costs are $15 for youth X-Small through adult X-Large, $17 for adult 2 XL and up. Orders can be placed by emailing Libby DeLoach, ldeloach@bleckley.k12.ga.us, or Chelsea Tyner, ctyner@bleckley.k12.ga.us. Checks can be dropped off in the main office of Bleckley Primary. Orders are due by April 30.

Michigan couple visiting fish fry a regular at Cochran bluegrass park.

Cochran Masonic Lodge 217 held a fish fry to raise funds for the charities they support.  Many ate inside, some came to pick up their plates.  One couple who was seated at a table had come from Grand Blanc, Michigan.  Doug and Darleine Liley were in town for the bluegrass festival that will be held at Hillside RV Park.  Former park manager Jean Holland, who was with the couple, said they'd began visiting 20 years ago, and "became family."

Church holding spring children's musical, benefit lunch, April 15.

Mt. Calvary Baptist Church will hold their children's spring musical April 15 at 11 am. Lunch will follow, donations appreciated. Proceeds will go toward playground renovations.

BCHS sweeps pair from Northeast.

Bleckley had little trouble winning their season baseball series from Northeast, taking both ends of a doubleheader played in Cochran Thursday 12-0 and 13-0.  To read more, click here.

Sixth annual Middle Georgia State Juried Student Art Exhibition opening April 9.

The sixth annual Middle Georgia State University Juried Student Art Exhibition will open with a reception and awards ceremony April 9 at 6 pm inside Peacock Gallery located in Russell Hall on the Cochran campus.  The exhibition will be open through April 27. Gallery hours are 8 am-5:30 pm Monday through Thursday and 8 am to noon on Fridays.

BCHS finishes comeback at Washington County.

In their previous meeting, Bleckley tried to rally from a 5-0 deficit against Washington County, only to lose 6-5.  This time, the Royals rallied from a 3-1 hole and were able to hold off a late comeback attempt by the Golden Hawks to seal the win.  To read more, click here.
