GDOT suspending construction-related lane closures for Christmas, New Year's.

The Georgia Department of Transportation will attempt to help what's sure to be a busy travel time during both Christmas and New Year's by suspending construction-related lane closures on interstate highways, heavily traveled state routes and roadways near major shopping centers, malls, shopping districts and tourist locations.Restriction dates are December 22 at 5 am- December 26 at 10 pm for Christmas and from 5 am on December 29 to 5 am on January 2 for New Year's. As always, they remind motorists that crews may work in proximity to some highways and safety concerns may require some long-term lane closures to remain in place. Also, incident management or emergency-related lane closures could be required at any time on interstates or other state routes.
