BCHS avenges earlier loss to Hawkinsville.

 Bleckley scored 11 of their 14 runs over the final three innings as they avenged an earlier loss to Hawkinsville with a 14-1 win Tuesday night. Chandler Abney went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI. Sam Knighton was 3 for 4 with 4 RBI. Noah Wimberly went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Knighton, Shayne Cannon, and Lane Kitchens combined to give up one run, two hits, over seven innings.  The Royals travel to Lyons to play Toombs County today at 5:45 pm.

Georgia DOT suspending interstate lane closures the next two weekends.

The Georgia Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that there would be no lane closures on interstates from noon March 30 to 10 pm April 1 and again on noon April 6 through 10 pm April 10.  The moves are designed to help with traffic flow for both Easter weekend and the Masters Golf Tournament.  They remind motorists that crews may have to continue to work in proximity to interstates and safety concerns may force some long-term closures to remain in place.

BCHS gets walkoff win versus Jeff Davis.

Bleckley trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh Monday night against Jeff Davis.  Sam Knighton's two-out single tied the game.  In the eighth, Cohen Lee led off with a pinch hit single.  He was replaced by Tripp Purser.  Purser got to third on a throwing error following Cody Dennis' bunt.  Lane Kitchens followed with a single, scoring Purser, and giving the Royals a 4-3 win.  The team was without Carter Raffield.

BCHS plays today at Hawkinsville.  Game time is 5:30 pm.

Cochran Rec. Department announces Volunteers of the Year.

The Cochran-Bleckley Recreation Department named Chris and Brittany Foskey as their Volunteers of the Year during opening day ceremonnies for baseball and softball.  Both are longtime supporters of the department and have hosted a benefit golf tournament for it the past two years.

Cochran-Bleckley Friends of the Library held their annual spring old book sale benefiting the Tessie W. Norris Library Saturday.  People came to shop, browse, and in some cases read, a variety of old books ranging from $.25 to $3.  Organizers described the turnout as steady and appreciate everyone who stopped by.

Bleckley had more errors (four) than hits (two) as they lost 11-1 at home to Dodge County Friday night.  Lane Kitchens and Carter Raffield were both 1 for 2, Raffield had a double.  The Royals host Jeff Davis March 26 at 6 pm.
