Indoor Easter fun and learning.
Wet weather made outdoor Easter activities not doable Saturday. Lakeview Baptist Church came up with a way to provide both fun and learn about the true meaning of the day. Children heard part of the Easter story while making “resurrection rolls” (wrapping a marshmallow inside a crescent roll) to symbolize the burial of Jesus.
While the rolls baked, they hunted eggs in classrooms as well as the sanctuary. Once the rolls were done, they were handed to the children. When they opened them, the marshmallow had dissolved, symbolizing Jesus arising. Children then looked through their eggs to first look for letters, then numbers. The letters spelled out “Jesus Loves Me.” The numbered eggs contained small items significant to the Easter story(IE: a cup, a spear.) A part of the Easter story relating to the item was read.
