Girls state champion cross country team members recognized at BOE meeting.

Members of the 2016 state champion girls cross country team were recognized at Tuesday night's monthly Bleckley Board of Education meeting.  Not all could attend due to other commitments.  Each received a Subway gift card that stated they were getting the gift "because you're awesome."

Bleckley Pre K registration March 9.

Registration for 2017-18 Bleckley Pre K will be March 9 from 9 am-6 pm in the Pre K Lunchroom, 242 E Dykes St.   Please park in front of the gym  and enter through the double doors to the left of the main entrance.  Funded to serve 154 students, enrollment priority will be placed on local students with completed registration packets.  Out of county students with completed packets will be placed on a waiting list and contacted in early summer with any available openings.

A release states for a packet to be completed, all registration forms must be completed by the parent/guardian (guardian must provide legal documentation of guardianship) and all of the following documentation must be on file.  The following student documentation is requested at registration.

BCHS boys fall in round one of state.

The Bleckley boys made it to state for the first time since 2013 but saw their season end Saturday night at Thomasville 59-41.  No player scored in double figures.  The girls will host Dade County in a second round matchup February 22 at 6 pm.

Bleckley PTO held their annual Father Daughter dance Saturday night at the high school.  Girls in Pre K through fifth grade put on their prettiest dresses, danced, and enjoyed time with their dad's or other male escorts.  And of course, loved seeing their favorite Princesses with a Purpose characters.

BCHS girls clinch third straight Sweet 16 berth.

Despite playing the entire second quarter without two starters due to foul trouble, the Bleckley girls defeated Thomasville 51-43 Friday night in round one of the state playoffs.  Jahnaria Brown scored 12 second half points with Aliyah Whitehead adding 11.  You can read more here.

Bleckley will host Dade County in round two February 22.  Tip time 6 pm.

Bats explode as BCHS wins home baseball opener.

Bleckley scored 12 runs on 13 hits, including a pair of fou-run innings, as they beat Lamar County 12-2 Friday afternoon.  Benji Knighton was 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI. Cody Dennis was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.  Nash Mullis went 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI. Chandler Abney was 2 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI. Chance Pittman went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Christian Kight went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI.

Sam Knighton had a double in the win and also threw four innings of two-hit ball.  The Royals host Mary Persons February 23.  JV play at 4 pm with varsity to follow.
