Though Bleckley had to travel to Bremen for Thursday's quarterfinal tennis matches against Bremen, it was a successful trip as both teams won.  Scores were 3-0 girls, 3-2 boys.  BCHS will host semifinal matches April 29.  Boys at 2 pm versus Early County, girls to follow versus Jeff Davis.

BCHS finds a way versus Metter.

There were plenty of anxious moments in Wednesday's first round playoff baseball series versus Metter.  A blown lead, missed scoring opportunities, the Tigers loading the bases twice in game two.  Bleckley though found a way to win both games and advance to round two.  Click here to find out how they did it.

Bleckley Retired Educators meeting May 1.

Bleckley County Retired Educators will hold their final monthly meeting until fall May 1 at noon in the main room of the county extension office, 165 E Peacock Street.  Contact Kathy Jones, (478)230-7047,  by April 28 to confirm your meal.

Military Night at Bleckley County Success Academy April 30.

Bleckley County Success Academy will host recruiters from various branches of the military (IE: Army, Georgia National Guard, Air Force) April 30 at 6 pm inside the middle school cafeteria.  Each will present info on opportunities to serve in their respective branches.  Local current and veteran members of the military will also be on hand to share experiences.  Call (478)934-1685 for more information.

Cochran blood drive has good day.

The American Red Cross held their quarterly blood drive Monday afternoon at the county extension office. Organizers said 35 people had donated around 5:30 pm, with more arriving. Those donating could pick up a "Game of Thrones" themed poster. The next drive is June 17.

Cochran cleanup day April 27.

The Chamber of Commerce and city of Cochran are sponsoring a cleanup day April 27 from 9 am to noon.  Volunteers are asked to meet behind the chamber on third street at 9, cleaning locations and supplies will be distributed.  Come back at noon for lunch.  Bulk waste can also be dropped off during that time at the Peyton Williams Learnng Center, the old Piggly Wiggly on Dykes Street, the Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department, and at Beech Street Plaza.
