Long final day at the ballfield.

It was a busy day for BCHS baseball.  The team played their final regular season games, a doubleheader, at home against Swainsboro.  It was also Senior Night.  Game one made it an even longer affair as it took 11 innings.

Bleckley failed to score with the bases loaded and one out twice as part of nine runners stranded as they lost at home to Fitzgerald 6-1 Thursday night.  To read more, click here.

Cochran Women's Club collecting items for domestic violence victims April 28.

Cochran Women's Club will join other women's clubs in statewide Day of Service event by collecting items for victims of domestic violence April 28. Members will be in front of Walmart from 10 am-1 pm. According to a release, items sought include diapers, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, hair brushes, paper towels, trash bags, feminine hygiene products, shavers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and women's and children's underwear. Donations will go to the Salvation Army Safe House in Warner Robins.

Friends of the Library hosting book signing April 24.

Cochran-Bleckley Friends of the Library will hold a book signing for Dr. Tracie Provost April 24 at 6:30 pm in the conference room of the Tessie W. Norris-Cochran Bleckley Library. Provost recently published her first novel "Under the Blood Moon." She is a professor of European History at Middle Georgia State University.

BCHS loses in extras at Dodge County.

Longtime rivals Bleckley and Dodge played a classic baseball game in Eastman Tuesday night, going nine innings.  The Royals suffered a close loss, 2-1 in nine innings.  Read more by clicking here.

Opening ceremony for 15th Bible Reading Marathon April 27.

Opening ceremonies for the 15th annual Bible Reading Marathon will be held April 27 at 6 pm on the Bleckle courthouse square. Special music as well as remarks by keynote speaker, former school superintendent L.C. "Buster" Evans. Six-year old Ridge Beck will begin the reading at 7 pm. Readings will continue daily through May 3.

Cochran Cleanup Day April 21.

As part of the Great American Cleanup, a cleanup Cochran Day will be held April 21 from 9 am-noon.  Meet behind the Chamber of Commerce on third street to receive cleaning supplies and locations.  Lunch will be provided there once completed.  For more information, call the chamber, (478)934-2965.
