"Crafts for Christ will benefit Cochran church ministries, missions.

First Baptist Church Thread Bearers Ministry will hold "Crafts for Christ" October 28 from 10 am-until in the Fellowship Hall.  An event of handmade items for sale with proceeds to benefit church ministries and missions.  Donated items can be left in the Fellowship Hall through October 27.  First Baptist Church is located at 102 S Second St in Cochran.

Cochran-Bleckley Friends of the Library held their annual Fall Old Book Sale at the old Bleckley County Hig School Library Saturday.  Proceeds from the event will go toward the Tessie W Norris/Cochran-Bleckley Library. Friends of the Library, along with the Cochran Women's Club, will host a book signing with Cochran native Melanie Dempsey Tuesday at 7 pm in the Tessie W Norris Library conference room.

Middle Georgia State University President Dr. Christopher Blake will discuss his new book "And Half the Seed of Europe: A Genealogy of the Great War 1914-1918," October 25 at 6 pm inside Russell Hall Auditorium in Cochran. The event is sponsored by Middle Georgia State's Student History Organization.

BCHS One Act performing at region October 24.

BCHS One Act performing at region October 24.

A sellout crowd jammed the Bleckley County High School auditorium Friday night for the second of two performances of Seussical.  If you missed either, or want to see the show again, the Region 3-AA One Act Play championship will be held October 24 at Washington County High School.  BCHS performs at 4:15 pm.  Note, per GHSA rules, photography and videography are prohibitted during all performances.

Anti-bullying event coming to BCMS.

Willie Raines, leader of The Power Team, and motivational speaker, will bring his "Only You Can Prevent Bullying" event to the Bleckley County Middle School gym October 24 at 6:30 pm.  Parents of all Bleckley students are invited to attend.  Topics to be discussed include anti-bullying, drug and alchohol awareness, academic excellence, and character building.  Light refreshments will follow.

Bleckley punches ticket to Columbus.

After losing in the second round of state for three straight years, twice after having won game one, BCHS broke through by defeating Berrien High School 6-4 Thursday afternoon in Nashville.  It's the first time the Lady Royals softball team advanced to Columbus since 2011.
