Cochran Rec. Department holding registration for football camp.

Registration is ongiong for a football camp sponsored by the Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department and BCHS football.  The camp will take place June 6-8 at Royal Stadium, 242 E Dykes St, from 9 am-noon.  It's for children ages 7-14, cost $35.  Cost includes T-shirt.

BCHS boys track finishes state runner up.

BCHS boys track finishes state runner up.

The Bleckley County High School boys track team fnished runner up at the AA State Championship held in Albany.  It's the best finish for boys track in school history.  Highlights included Carl Ellis Corley winning both the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs, Torenio Davis winning the high jump, and Will Simmons placing first in pole vault.

Cochran Bleckley Cleanup Day May 20.

As part of The Great American Cleanup, the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce will sponsor "Cochran-Bleckley Cleanup Day" May 20 from 9 am-1 pm.  Meet behind the chamber on third street at 9 am, cleaning supplies provided.  Cleanup locations within the city and county, meet back at the chamber afterwards for lunch.  Free to participate but you must register for lunch.  You can do that by calling the chamber, (478)933-2904.

BCHS Cheerleader named Most Positive in Middle Georgia.

BCHS Cheerleader named Most Positive in Middle Georgia.

Bleckley County High School Cheerleder Calli White was named Positive Athlete Georgia's Most Positive Cheerleading Athlete in Middle Georgia.  She was informed of the award Thursday night via email.  White, nominated by head coach Heather Davis, was amongst over 4,700 student athletes and coaches nominated for awards.

Season ends for Bleckley baseball in quarterfinals.

The best season for BCHS baseball ended late Wednesday night as Bacon County swept both elite eight games, winning the first 7-3 in nine innings, the second 14-4 in six.  Detailed coverage can be found here.  The Royals finish with a 25-11 record.

Cochran native shares his vision for helping women.

Cochran native Sam Haupt spoke at the monthly Cochran Women's Club meeting Tuesday afternoon.  Haupt is the Executive Director of Sacred Roots Farm in Gainesville, an organization seeking to establish a working, sustainable farm for trafficked women and children.  He shared how his work in missions gave him inspiration for starting the project, services that will be offered for abused women (IE: drug counseling) and where things currently stand in terms of financial support.  To learn more, visit www.sacredrootsfarm.org

The Cochran Women's Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Community House, 193 Third St.

Cochran Dairy Queen to hold day for local woman's kidney transplant fund.

May 19 will be "Wilene Foster Day" at Cochran DQ Grill & Chill.  The restaurant will donate ten percent of all sales to the Wilene Foster Kidney Transplant Fund.
