American Red Cross Blood Drive in Cochran February 18.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive in the county extension office main building, 165 E. Peacock Street, February 18 from 2-7 pm.  Schedule your appointment online by going to redcrossblood.org and use the sponsor code "Cochran."  Up to 15 minutes can be saved the day of your appointment by going to redcrossblood.org/RapidPass and completing your pre-donation reading and health history questions.

Update on BCMS sports.

Regular season play for BCMS basketball wrapped up February 7 with a home sweep of Dublin.  The MGMSAA region tournament will be February 13 through 16 hosted by J.R. Trippe Middle School in Vidalia.  The boys are top seed and open play February 14 at 4 pm against #8 Jeff Davis.  The girls are third seed and take on sixth seed Dodge County February 13 at 5:15 pm.  Saturday's championship games will be played at Vidalia High School.

 

BCMS baseball has a scrimmage game Feruary 11 at home against Toombs County 4 pm.  Head coach is former BCHS and Middle Georgia State baseball player Dusty Jones.

American Cancer Society seeking volunteers to drive local cancer patients to and from treatments.

The American Cancer Society is looking for people to participate in their "Road to Recovery" program by volunteering to drive local cancer patients to and from treatments.  Click here for more.

BCHS baseball loses scrimmage at Veterans.

The Royals baseball team lost Thursday's scrimmage game at Veterans High School 8-2.  Brody Little was 3 for 3 with a double.  BCHS opens the regular season at Jeff Davis February 12.  Game time is 6 pm.

Though the weather Thursday night was far from winter, Bleckley Elementary held their annual Winter Festival.  It offered a variety of fun activities for both kids, and adults.  To see more photos, click here.

Bleckley's Farrow celebrated for signing with Kennesaw State.
Though Nykeem Farrow signed his letter of intent to play football with Kennesaw State University December 19, he wasn’t recognized for the accomplishment. A ceremony to honor him for the accomplishment, surrounded by family, coaches, teammates, and friends, was held Wednesday afternoon n the BCHS Media Center. This season, Farrow rushed for 1,190 yards on 187 carries and scored 15 touchdowns. He averaged 6.36 yards per rush. Farrow also caught 20 passes for 384 yards with six touchdowns, averaging 16.4 yards per catch.

Though the Royals were down just two points to Southwest in Tuesday afternoon's region tourney opener, they managed just eight third quarter points.  BC never recovered in losing 46-35.  To read more, click here.
