History made: BCHS tennis teams sweep state title matches.

History made: BCHS tennis teams sweep state title matches.

For 26 years, Bleckley head tennis coach Brad Sanders has put great boys and girls tennis teams on the court.  Teams that won multiple region titles.  But in those 26 years, none had ever played for a state title.  Many of those years, each team would fall short in the semifinals.

That streak was broke this week as the girls won a neutral court match against Berrien High School and the boys defeated Thomasville in Thomasville to claim state championship berths.  Saturday, they would, as Sanders later said at an impromptu celebratory pep rally held on the courthouse square, "finish the job."

BCHS swept the state tennis championships.  The girls won 3-0 against Screven County.  The boys won 3-2.
