Story Time at the Tessie W. Norris/Cochran Bleckley Library will be February 15 at 10 am.  Presented by the Bleckley County Retired Educators, reader will be Laura Bowen.

BCHS swept in regular season finale.

Both the Lady Royals and Royals had the opportunity to clinch second seed for next week's region playoffs with win in Washington County Friday night.  However, both teams lost.

The girls lost 54-50.  Jahnaria Brown had 21 points.  Fellisia Young scored 10.  The boys lost 46-42.  Willie Taylor scored 10 points.  With the loss, both teams will be third seed.  This year, the boys third seed hosts one round of the playoffs.

Region quarterfinal games will be at BCHS February 7.  The girls take on the winner of Monday's game between Northeast and Southwest at 7 pm with the boys playing the winner of Northeast-East Laurens at 8:30.  Winners advance to the semifinals at Dublin High School February 10.

Winter Festival fun at BCES.

Bleckley Elementary held their annual Winter Festival Thursday night.  A fundraiser for the school, this year's event will go toward supplies for students such as Chrome Books.  Children enjoyed a variety of games and activities including football toss, hole in one, wacky hair, and more.

Cochran Chamber holds annual banquet.

The Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce held their annual banquet and silent auction Thursday night in the Presdential Dining Room on the campus of Middle Georgia State University.  It featured recognition of the past and current board as well as several special presentations including the annual STAR Student and Teacher.

Called Bleckley BOE meeting February 7.

A special called Bleckley Board of Education meeting will be held February 7 at 7 pm. The purpose of the meeting will be to act on a personnel matter and any other business to come before the board. The meeting will be held at the Board of Education offices, 242 E. Dykes St. A new high school football coach will be named at the meeting.
