Rain threat pushes Heard at BCHS baseball playoffs to Friday.

Due to the high rain threat today, the second round playoff series between Heard County and Bleckley has been postponed until tomorrow.  Game one starts at 5 pm, game two 30 minutes following the first game.  The *if* game is Saturday at 1 pm.

Murder trial forces change of location for Bible Reading Marathon.

People who've ridden through downtown Cochran the past couple of days may've noticed the Bible Reading Marathon was no longer taking place on the courthouse square.  That's because it was moved to the city auditorium.  BRM Facilitator Jerri Tuck said in an email they had to move because of the Jim Edward Lowery murder trial which was moved to Cochran from Montgomery County.  

Closing ceremonies will be tomorrow at 11:30 am inside the auditorium.  

Second Bleckley virtual school interest meeting May 11.

A second interest meeting to gauge interest and discuss a virtual/online school that would start this August and be offered by the Bleckley County School System will be held May 11 at 7 pm inside the high school auditorium.

BCHS wins 3-AA All Sports Trophy.

Outgoing Bleckley County High School athletic director forwarded an email yesterday announcing the school had won this year's 3-AA All Sports Trophy Monday.  Based upon a point system set by region ad's, BCHS had 60 points for the  eight region titles.  (boys and girls cross country, boys and girls tennis, girls basketball, baseball, girls golf, boys track.)  

He also forwarded an email announcing BCHS had been chosen by region ad's as the recipient of this year's GEMC Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Trophy.  

Start time for second round of BCHS baseball playoff games.

Bleckley County High School will host Heard County in round two of the AA playoffs May 4.  Game one that Thursday is set for 4:30 pm with game two to follow 30 minutes later.  An *if* game would be set for May 5 at 3 pm.

Cochran church celebrating Homecoming May 7.

Salem Baptist Church, located 107 Emergency Rd 450R, will celebrate Homecoming during their 11 am service May 7.  Former pastor Billy Todd will be guest speaker.  Lunch to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
