Christmas Tree Recycling Event
Environment, Events

Trees will be accepted this year between Dec. 28 and Jan. 14, 2011.

This event is made possible through a partnership with the City of Hawkinsville and McGalliard Waste Services.

Starting Tuesday, Dec. 28 used live Christmas trees can be dropped of into the bins marked for tree recycling at two convenient locations; Fred's parking lot and also on the corner of Broad Street and Veteran's Parkway next to Veteran's Park.

Please remove all decorations and stands that could damage the wood chipper.

Trees will also be accepted at the city landfill during the regular business hours of 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. except on the city holiday, Friday, January 31. The city facility is located on Anderson Gift Church Road.

The tree mulch will be available for anyone who would like to request it.

Christmas tree mulch helps to conserve water by retaining moisture in the ground. This event provides an easy way for families to go "Green" during the holidays.
