Hawkinsville 39th Harness Festival Set for April 20-21 | Arts & Culture
Pulaski County began its affair with harness racing in 1894, when the Pulaski County Fair Association held the first official race. Hawkinsville is now considered the “ Harness Horse Capital” of Georgia. This community is the winter home for harness horse trainers from the northern U.S. and Canada.
Enjoy a weekend of fun at the 39th Annual Hawkinsville Harness Festival which will be held April 20-21.
Admission Friday is free, and the night begins with food, concert by the Big Daddy Band and fireworks. Saturday events begin at 11a.m. The parade of queens will begin at noon followed by the opening ceremonies and then the harness racing at 1p.m. Admission for Saturday is $5.00. Children 5-years and under are admitted free.
