Hawkinsville Bank 'Pinks-Out'

Bobbie Clemmons, vice-president of PlantersFIRST Bank in Hawkinsville, looks at the picture in her office of her best friend, Lisa Neal, and talked about her reasons for being a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Clemmons, who also serves as co-chair of the Pulaski County Relay for Life, said, "My best friend got cancer in 2010, and I was there with her, at the doctors and even flew with her to find out more about it. I remember sitting at the foot of her bed when the doctor came in and said to her that she had cancer ... she looked straight at me." Clemmons said she wasn't going to break. She said, "We'll handle this."

And Clemmons and her co-worker, Shirley Hood, and Pulaski County have handled it - being cancer - very well. The Pulaski County Relay for Life has set records each year with funds raised for research for this disease, which touches many.

PlantersFIRST has been one of the guiding forces in the fight too.
