Bleckley Summer Theatre Camp to present Willy Wonka

Bleckley Summer Theatre Camp will present Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory.  The camp is for students Pre-K through eighth grade.  Cost is $125 if you bring your own costume, $150 without.  A $25 late fee will be charged for anyone registering after Camp will be held at Cochran City Auditorium.  Auditions are June 1, 3-5 pm with camp going June 2-6 from 9 am-2 pm.  Performances will be June 6-8.

New MGSC scholarship memorializes music professor

Middle Georgia State College announced a newly-endowed  scholarship Thursday in memory of Dr. Charles L. Quinn. Quinn, who was Director of Instrumental Music at the former Middle Georgia College Cochran campus, also founded the Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra and its outreach program, the Ocmulgee Symphony Academy.  He passed away in 2011.

The scholarship was established by Quinn's mother, Sandra Nash, through the Middle Georgia State College Foundation.  The scholarship will be awarded annually to a qualified student majoring in music at MGSC.  Donations, made payable to the Dr. Charles L. BCHS student art show held

BCHS student art show held

The annual student art show was held Monday evening inside the Bleckley County High School auditorium.  Art from students in the classes of teacher Robin Faulk was on display and judged by an outside judge.  Three places and an honorable mention were awarded, cash awards came from local banks.

Results were: Tanner Johnson, runner up, $25.  Julianna Leverette, third place $50.  Second place, Austin Jones, $75.  First place, Shayne Cannon, $100.

BCHS Royal Singers to hold "Spring Musical Review."

The BCHS Royal Singers will hold their "Spring Musical Review" April 27 and 29 at the high school auditorium.  Showtimes are 3 pm that Sunday, 7 pm on Tuesday.  Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for students.

Cochran Friends of the Library holds old book sale

Cochran-Bleckley Friends of the Library held an old book sale at the old BCHS library on ninth street.  A wide selection of books were for sale including mysteries, romance, and thrillers.  Proceeds benefit the Tessie W. Norris Library.

The Cochran-Bleckley Friends of the Library will hold an Old Book Sale April 12 from 9 am-6 pm at the old Bleckley County High School library on ninth street.  

Many books to choose from including romance, children's history, thriller, history, and antiques.  

Prices range from $.25 to $5 with proceeds benetting the Tessie W. Norris Library.
