Middle Georgia State University Gallery Talk February 29.

Peacock Gallery, located inside Russell Hall of Middle Georgia State University in Cochran will hold a Gallery Talk and opening reception for the Robb Hill Photo Exhibition on February 29 from 6-7 pm. The exhibition will be on display through March 25. Gallery hours are 8 am-5:30 pm Monday-Thursday and 8 am-noon on Fridays.

Middle Georgia State opening Spring Art Exhibition.

The Brian Moss Art Exhibition is currently on display in Peacock Gallery located inside Russell Hall on the Cochran campus of Middle Georgia State University. A gallery talk and reception will be hosted by moss via Skype tonight  from 6-7 pm. The exhibition will be on display through February 26. Gallery hours are 8 am-5:30 pm Monday-Thursday, 8 am-noon, Friday.

Cochran Bleckley Arts Alliance Arts Extravaganza December 12-13.

The Cochran-Bleckley Arts Alliance will hold their 13th annual Arts Extravaganza December 12-13 at the Arts Alliance Building, 113 East Dykes Street.  Hours will be 9 am-5 pm that Saturday, noon-5 pm on Sunday.  The event will feature various homemade jewlery, paintings, and other crafts for sale.  Cost is $30 per vendor with setup December 12 from 7:30-8:30 am.  Coffee and treats will be served.  Contact Christopher Cairney, (478)934-3439, ccairney@hotmail.com for more information.

Middle Georgia State Bookstore to hold book signing November 14.

Dr. Buckner F. Melton Jr. and Dr. Carol Willcox Melton, both members of the history faculty at Middle Georgia State University, will sign copies of their new book, “"Fuller E. Callaway: Portrait of a New South Citizen," November 14 from 1-3 pm at the MGA Cochran campus bookstore. The bookstore is located inside Georgia Hall on the top floor. It will be part of a grand opening for the Cochran campus bookstore.

Light refreshments will be served and copies of the book will be available to purchase. A news release describes Callaway as "an American textile manufacturer from LaGrange, GA,(who) was regarded as one of the leading industrial magnates of the Southern U.S. during the first decades of the 20th century." The biography is published Looking Glass Books in conjunction with the Georgia Humanities Council and the Fuller E. Callaway Foundation. Call (478)934-3041 for more information.

Cochran Bleckley Arts Alliance Instrument Petting Zoo Saturday.

The Cochran Bleckley Arts Alliance will hold an Instrument Petting Zoo Saturday at 10 am.  With assistance by the Royal Kingsmen band, the event will allow children to try out different musical instruments.  Fresh biscuits, coffee, and cocoa will be available for adults.  The Arts Alliance is located at 113 E. Dykes St.

Award winning gospel group to perform in Cochran November 6.

The Perry's will be in concert at the Cochran City Auditorium (102 N. Second Street) November 6.   Cochran resident Cheryl Harris opens the event that starts at 7 pm.  The Perry's have won numerous awards including   The Singining News Mixed Quartet of the Year.  A $10 donation is asked.  Concessions will be available.  The concert is sponsored by Hillside Family Campground.  Call (478)934-6694 for tickets and information.

BCHS to host Region 4-AA One Act Play competition Thursday.

Bleckley County High School will host Region 4-AA One Act Play competition Thursday.  Performances start at 10 am with BCHS performing their selection Into The Woods at 1:20 pm.  Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.  Note: per GHSA rules, photography and videography is prohibitied during all shows.
