What I learned at (music) camp

What I learned at (music) camp

Mt. Calvary Baptist Church held a performance of their children's music camp Friday night.  Entitled "The Amazing Grace Race: In HIS steps, in my shoes,"

The play was about running the "race" of life and following in the steps of Jesus. Children were in the choir with youth taking some of the speaking roles.

A finger food fellowship was held afterward.

New management, same great sounds at Bleckley County Jamboree

New management, same great sounds at Bleckley County Jamboree

The Bleckley County Jamboree was started by Josh Lucas in 2010.

For the past six years, people from Cochran and surrounding counties have come to the Oak Grove Community Center on Georgia 126 each Friday night to hear classic country and gospel music.

It's now being managed by Sonny and Jewell Hinson. Sonny said Lucas had to give it up about a year ago because of health issues but he will occassionally come by and visit. The Hinsons are keeping the Jamboree going each Friday night with music from the Faulk and Foskey famlies. Singing begins at 7 pm.

Concessions are available, donations welcomed.  For more information, contact Sonny Hinson, 478-308-4559.
