Middle Georgia Talent Search

The Hawkinsville/Pulaski County Arts Council, Inc. presents the 2011 Middle Georgia Talent Search March 5 & March 12.

Registration forms available at the Hawkinsville Opera House or on-line www.hawkinsvilleoperahouse.com

This event will be broadcast live on Qixie 103.9  from the Hawkinsville Opera House. 

The top three contestants will win cash prizes. For additional information call 478-783-1884.

Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra February Performance

The Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Hawkinsville Opera House and Wesleyan College this month.

The orchestra will perform Mozart's Don Giovani, Hadyn's Cello Concerto in D Major and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7.

The performance will take place at the Hawkinsville Opera House on February 26 at 7:30 p.m. and on February 27 at Wesleyan College in Macon on February 27.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online here.

The Dodge Arts Guild released a schedule of 2011 events for the Magnolia Music and Medicine Show.

Tickets are $10, and can be purchased from any Dodge Arts Guild member, from the Eastman-Dodge County Chamber of Commerce, and at the door prior to showtime.

The Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra Debuts Pure Pleasure

Dr. Charles L. Quinn, Artisitic Director of the Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra, invites you to enjoy the fourth concert in the Orchestra's 2010-2011 concert series: Pure Pleasure.

Highlighting the talents of Martin Gueorguiev on the violoncello and conductor, Adrian Gnam, Pure Pleasure will feature Mozart's Don Giovanni Overture, Haydn's Cello Concerto in D-Major, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7.

The Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra offers two performances of Pure Pleasure: February 26th at 7:30 p.m. at the Opera House in Hawkinsville or February 27 at 3 p.m. at Wesleyan College in Macon.

Bleckley Students Named to Honor Band

Eleven Bleckley middle and high school students were selected through audition to participate in the Georgia Music Educators Association Eleventh District Honor Band. 

They competed against students in both public and private schools from all classifications. 

Students selected will participate in the District Honor Band event held at Baldwin County High School on February 11 & 12. 

Honor Band members are:  Geena Smith, Elizabeth Thompson, Alondria Clemons,  Hannah DeLoach,  Kelby Dykes,  Kaitlan Allen, Amber Burton, Clarinet,  Justin Bates, Baritone Saxophone, Jasmin Allen, Ronald Leek, Euphonium, Zack Songer.

Smith, Thompson, DeLoach, and Dykes were also selected to participate in the South Georgia Region Honor Band held at Valdosta State University, April 14-16.

Ben Altman to Perform Classical Guitar

Ben Altman to Perform Classical Guitar

The Middle Georgia College Division of Humanities presents Ben Altman on classical guitar.

Altman will perform on Tuesday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Altman is a classical guitarist who studied at the Eastman School of Music and maintains a private studio in Denver, Co. He is also a member of the Colorado Guitar Quartet, and Magpie, a trio with flute and cello.

The event is free and open to the public.

The concert will take place at Russell Hall Theatre on Middle Georgia College's campus.
