Middle Georgia College Holds Annual Christmas Luncheon

Middle Georgia College (MGC) held its annual Christmas Luncheon on Dec. 13 in Georgia Hall for faculty, staff, friends and family.

Guests donated unwrapped toys to Toys for Tots.

The MGC Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble performed holiday selections and door prizes were awarded during lunch.

First Baptist Church Presents "When Christmas Comes"

First Baptist Church presents "When Christmas Comes" Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. 

The program will include the church choir, praise band and narrators sharing the music of Christmas.

First Baptist Church is located at 101 South Second Street in Cochran.

Chamber of Commerce Welcomes Dodge Arts Guild

Magnolia Theater's ribbon cutting ceremony took place last week as recent improvements to the Theater were revealed.

The Eastman-Dodge County Chamber of Commerce welcomed the Dodge Arts Guild as a new member with a plaque presentation.

Established to promote the arts in Dodge County, the Dodge Arts Guild is an active sponsor of cultural events, a venue provider and an educational extension of the Dodge County school system.

The Dodge Arts Guild invites the community to attend the next Magnolia Music and Medicine Show on Dec. 11 from 7-9 p.m.

Tickets are $10, and are available from any Arts Guild member, the Chamber of Commerce, and prior to show time.

The Magnolia Music and Medicine Show

The presentation of the Medicine Show will feature Solstice Sisters, singer-songwriter Marlin Brackett, The Medicine Men, and local talent Erin Smith, along with The Magnolia Players, and regular cast on Dec. 11 from 7-9 p.m.

The performance is an effort put on by the Dodge County Arts Guild six times a year at Magnola Theater on Main Street in Eastman.

Community Performances of BCHS region-winning One Act Play.

Bleckley County High School (BCHS) won its seventh consecutive region one-act play championship this past Tuesday at Southeastern Technical College in Vidalia, Ga.  The AA State One Act Play Championships will be held on Nov. 13 at Warner Robins High School.  BCHS performs at 10 a.m.

The BCHS Drama Department will have two additonal community performances of its One Act Play production "Beauty and the Beast."  Showtimes are Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. and Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. at the BCHS auditorium.  Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students.
