Cochran book sale organizers say Saturday's was most successful.

Cochran-Bleckley Friends of the Library held their annual Old Book Sale Saturday at the old BCHS library. Volunteers said that Saturday's was their most successful.  They attributed it partially to people in town for the middle school state cross country meet coming to shop.

Money raised Saturday will go toward the Tessie W. Norris/Cochran-Bleckley Library.   To learn more about Friends of the Library, visit them on Facebook.

The Cochran-Bleckley CountryFest was capped with the annual street dance Saturday night.  Music was provided by the Bleckley-based Double Barrell Band.  Hundreds came out to listen and dance to songs such as Gimmie Three Steps by Lynard Skynard as well as Darius Rucker's Wagon Wheel.

Bleckley County High School held the first of four community performances of their One Act Play selection Bye Bye Birdie.  It's a musical comedy about Conrad Birdie who visits Sweet Apple Ohio to deliever "one last kiss" to a fan before going into the Army.

Friends of the Library Old Book Sale October 18.

Cochran-Bleckley Friends of the Library will hold an Old Book Sale October 18 from 9 am-6 pm at the old BCHS Library located on ninth street.  Selections include thrillers, children's, romance, inspirational, history, biography, and others.  Prices range from $.25 to $5.  Proceeds benefit the Tessie W. BCHS One Act to present "Bye Bye Birdie."

Bleckley County High School One Act Play will perform "Bye Bye Birdie" at the high school auditorium.  Showtimes are October 16, 21, and 22 at 7:30 pm and October 19 at 3:30 pm.  Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students.

MGSC to host gallery talk, art exhibition.

Middle Georgia State College will host a gallery talk and art exhibition featuring the work of Lee Simmons October 6 at 6 pm.  It'll be held inside Peacock Gallery inside Russell Hall on the Cochran campus.  The exhibition is entited "Lee Simmons Prints & Instillation:  Things Past," and will be on display through November 7.  Peacock Gallery is open 8 am-5:30 pm Monday through Thursday an 8 am-noon on Friday.  Email Charlie Agnew. charlie.agnew@mga.edu for more information.  The event is free and open to the public.

Cochran churches to have special music during evening services.

A pair of Cochran churches will have special music during upcoming 6 pm worship services.  The contemporary gospel group Mercy's Well will be at Betnany Baptist Church September 21 at 6 pm.  Bethany is located at 608 Highway 26 East.

On September 28 a "Gaither style" gospel sing will be held at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church from 6-8 pm.  It'll feature the combined choirs of Mt. Calvary, Salem Baptist, Lakeview, and Bethany Baptist Churches, as well as an advertised "surprise guest."  Mt. Calvary is located at 128 Abney Road.
