Bleckley 9-10 girls clinch state berth | Best Of
The last time a Bleckley girls all star team went to state was 2006. That year, both the 9-10 and 11-12 divisions advanced with the 11-12 team finishing state runner up. Wednesday in Hawkinsville, the 9-10 girls broke that drought.
After dropping a district game to Dodge County 18-4, Bleckley played Metter. Ten in the second erased an early 6-1 deficict. BC went on to win 18-12. For the fourth time in two weeks, it'll be Bleckley and Dodge Thursday. This time for the GRPA Class C District Championship. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
Also Wednesday, the 11-12 boys faced elimination as they trailed Dodge County 11-8 in the sixth inning. BC scored three times to tie. After hodling Dodge scoreless in the seventh, Parker Dixon came home on a grounder hit by Ethan Hulsey that the shortstop overthrow to keep the season alive, 12-11. They'll play Thursday against Screven County at 5:30 pm.
