Royals' Mims commits to UGA.
In what was a first for Bleckley County High School, a press conference was held Wednesday afternoon for Royals senior offensive tackle Amarius Mims to announce his decision on what school he committed to. Mims, the sixth-rated high school prospect in the nation, had received offers from numerous schools including UGA, Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida State. Flanked by parents Prentice Purnell and Nikki Mims, Amarius removed his jacket to reveal a University of Georgia shirt. He then proceeded to put on a chain with the “G” logo. His announcement was met by loud applause from many who’d gathered to watch. Mms said he made his decision last night. He also said the chance to play for his home state team was a factor in his decision. Mims is the second-ranked tackle in Georgia, third nationwide.
