It's a long way from Longview, Texas to Hawkinsville, Georgia, but Hudson Johnson, 25, doesn't mind. In his job, he could go to bed in Texas and have lunch in Georgia or Kentucky or South Carolina, or even California.

And he loves it.

Hudson, 25, is one of today's leading professional golfers on the National Golf Association Tour, and he is not that far from having that “one good tournament to qualify me for the PGA.”

Hudson has been on the tour for more than two years. When he was growing up, he was, by his own admission, into “a little bit of everything. I could have played soccer, but my dad said I should go for golf – because you can play golf for a long time.”

He smiled, “I think my dad didn't realize just how smart he was when he said that.”

A fan of the 'old-school' golfers like Ben Hogan , who Hudson said, “really knew how to play. They were not touched by the money that is offered today in the game – they really loved the game,” Hudson didn't start playing seriously until he was a teenager.
