Both the BCMS and BCHS competition cheer squads had good debuts at the Middle Georgia Cheer Classic Saturday.  The middle school placed second despite losing eight girls to high school, plus a new head coach in former assistant Liz Brown.  Perry Middle School edged the Barons by one point.

 

BCHS had to bring in a new member Thursday due to numerous injury issues.  Despite that, they had a solid debut and won the AA division.  Both squads will be at the West Laurens Raider Rumble September 22.

It was battles within battles as middle and high school cross country teams competed at the annual Clash of the Classes Saturday in Cochran. Runners from each grade competed against each other (IE: all sixth graders, all Juniors.) For Bleckley, it was a clean sweep as all middle and high school teams placed first in their class. The high school travels to Panama City Beach, Florida for the Bay Invitational September 8. Both the middle school and JV will be at the Warner Robins Invitation September 11. The course is located at Huntington Mills Middle School.

Lakeview Baptist Church had a perfect run in this weekend's 14-team Bleckley County Church Softball League postseason tournament, winning the title with a 9-4 victory over Bethany Baptist Church.  To read more, click here.

Local travel team picks up second straight trophy.

Bleckley-based Middle GA Crush 04 again was putting the "travel" in travel softball Saturday, playing in Brunswick at the USSSA Beach Bash.  The team picked up their second straight trophy, finising second in the Gold Division.

The Atlanta Braves, in conjunction with the GHSA held "Champions Day" prior to Sunday's home game versus Baltimore. Softball and baseball state champions as well as those making the elite eight, got the opportunity to walk out on the field and be recognized by the crowd.

Bleckley County High School Beta Club was in Savannah June 17-20 for the National Convention.  Of the nine events in which a member competed, six placed in the top ten, including two national champions and two runners up.  To read more, click here.

Local travel teams bring home trophies.

Local travel teams bring home trophies.

A pair of Bleckley-based travel teams brought home trophies from tournaments played Saturday.  BC Cyclones, a newly-formed 14u baseball team, placed second in CAMSPORTS-USA's Down South Shootout in Cordele.  It was the first completed tournament for the Cyclones as their previous two ended early due to weather.

Down the road in Moultrie, Middle GA Crush 04 had their best finish since moving to 14u, placing second in the USSSA Moultrie All Star Warmup and Class B Shootout.
