BCHS girls soccer wins Crusader Classic.

The Bleckley girls soccer team picked up their first regular-season trophy in program history, winning the Crusader Classic hosted by Trinity Christian School.  Molly Williams' goal was the only score in a 1-0 Friday night win against John Milledge Academy.  Jayda Danner and Emileigh Darden scored in a 2-0 Saturday morning win versus Holy Spirit Prep.  Anna Brown and Olivia Williams had goals in another 2-0 win, this time against Tiftarea Academy, to secure first place.

Region play begins Tuesday at Dublin High School.  Girls play at 5:30 pm, boys to follow.

Bleckley Teachers of the Year recognized at board meeting.

Teachers of the Year for all Bleckley schools were recognized at last night's monthly board of education meeting.  Each were presented with a check from State Bank of Cochran President Jackie Bowen, as well as recieving a certificate and Subway gift card.  The system Teacher of the Year will be announced at the end of year meeting held in May.

The Lady Barons won their second straight MGMSAA title beating West Laurens 40-19 in the title game Saturday morning at East Laurens High School.  To read more, click here.

Torenio Davis will be going from purple and gold to red and black as he signed his national letter of intent to play with Georgia Military College football Wednesday morning. Davis, a first team 3-AA All Region selection, caught 37 passes for 619 yards and 10 touchdowns. He averaged 16.9 yards per catch. Though also a standout for the Royals basketball team, Davis said he expects to focus just on football while in college.

The Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce STAR Student and Teacher were presented at last night's annual banquet.  Tucker Felkins was the STAR Student.  He chose BCHS Agriculture Teacher Walt Parks as STAR Teacher.

Oconee Fall Line Technical College students Mason Foskey and Caleb Meadows were among 16 students to receive tools needed for their occupation in OFTC's Tools for Outstanding Occupational Leadership Students program. The program provides tools needed for their career, allowing students to begin work upon graduation. Students chosen were selected by their instructors and were selected by a panel of judges following an application and interview process. Foskey is majoring in Diesel Technology, Meadows, Automotive Technology.

Four members of the BCHS Concert Band will be traveling to Athens for the University of Georgia's annual high school band festival known as JanFest. They are Allyson Burke, Logan Fillion, Adam Little, and Rachel Harbin. Harbin was also selected to perform at the Southeast Concert Band Clinic and Honor Band held at Troy University February 1-3. She will be in the showcase concert held on the final day. Fillion was chosen to represent BCHS in the District 11 Georgia Music Educators Association Honor Band. Rehearsals and concerts will take place February 9-10 at Baldwin High School.
