BCHS cross country teams sweep small school division of home meet.
Both the boys and girls cross country teams placed first in the small school division of the Bleckley County Invitational held Thursday afternoon. Emily Youngblood was top female, Garrett Rogers top male for BC. Both finished fifth individually. Teams are scheduled to return to action October 6 at the Domino's Invitational in Anderson, South Carolina.

Both the Bleckley middle and high school cheerleaders faced a lot of competition at the West Laurens Raider Rumble Saturday.  There were eight schools in the small school middle school division, 12 in the AA division which finished the day.

Both the BCMS and BCHS competition cheer squads had good debuts at the Middle Georgia Cheer Classic Saturday.  The middle school placed second despite losing eight girls to high school, plus a new head coach in former assistant Liz Brown.  Perry Middle School edged the Barons by one point.

 

BCHS had to bring in a new member Thursday due to numerous injury issues.  Despite that, they had a solid debut and won the AA division.  Both squads will be at the West Laurens Raider Rumble September 22.

It was battles within battles as middle and high school cross country teams competed at the annual Clash of the Classes Saturday in Cochran. Runners from each grade competed against each other (IE: all sixth graders, all Juniors.) For Bleckley, it was a clean sweep as all middle and high school teams placed first in their class. The high school travels to Panama City Beach, Florida for the Bay Invitational September 8. Both the middle school and JV will be at the Warner Robins Invitation September 11. The course is located at Huntington Mills Middle School.

Lakeview Baptist Church had a perfect run in this weekend's 14-team Bleckley County Church Softball League postseason tournament, winning the title with a 9-4 victory over Bethany Baptist Church.  To read more, click here.

Bleckley-based Middle GA Crush 04 again was putting the "travel" in travel softball Saturday, playing in Brunswick at the USSSA Beach Bash.  The team picked up their second straight trophy, finising second in the Gold Division.
