BCHS cross country teams recognized at State Capitol.

The Bleckley County High School state champion boys and girls cross country teams were the guest of Representative Bubber Epps at the State Capitol Monday.  Both teams were recognized during the daily legislative session and head coach Shelly Cranford spoke briefly.

BCHS athletes recognized for fall sports accomplishments.

Several Bleckley County High School athletes recentely received recognition for their accomplishments this fall. Carl Ellis Corley, the two time AA individual state champion, was a first team selection to the Macon Telegraph All Middle Georgia Cross Country Team.

Taylor Dykes was a second team selection as Designated Player for the All Middle Georgia Softball Team.  Hannah Coulter, Faith Harris, and Jordan Williams were all Honorable Mentions.  Willie Taylor was a first team selection at Defensive Back for the All Middle Georgia Football Team.  He was also an Hononrable Mention on the Atlanta Journal Constitution All State Football Team announced last week.

It's always special when a high school athlete signs to continue their career at the next level.  Four Bleckley athletes held signing ceremonies Monday and will be continuing their careers in college.

Bronson Sanders signed to run at Gordon State College.  He was a two-time member of the all region cross country team. Sanders also made the all state cross country team in 2015 and placed fifth in the 3200 meter run at the 2016 state track meet.

Cark Ellis Corley signed and will run both cross country and track at Columbus State University.  He won the past two individual state titles in cross country. At the 2016 state track championships, Corley won the 3200 meter run and was state runner up in the 1600 meter run. He'll be a member of the Columbus State cross country and track teams.

BCHS football players receive all region honors.

Region 3-AA All Region football selections were announced last week.  Willie Taylor was a first team selection on defense.  Kevontez Farrow made second team defense.  Nykeem Farrow was honorable mention for Special Teams Player of the Year as well as honorable mention at running back.  Torenio Davis was honorable mention at cornerback.

BCHS well represented on 3-AA All Region Softball Team.

During Monday night's Bleckley County High School softball awards banquet, all region, and all state selections were announced.  They were as follows. 3-AA All Region TeamSecond team- Landa Dominy, Riley Edge, Abbey Sims, Aliyah Whitehead.First team- Taylor Dykes, Faith Harris, Bailey Odom, Jordan Williams.3-AA Co-Player of the Year- Hannah Coulter. 2016- All State Team SelectionsSecond Team- Taylor Dykes, Hannah Coulter.Honorable Mention- Faith Harris. You can read more on the banquet by clicking here.

BCHS state champion cross country teams recognized at football game.

Friday was a good day for Bleckley County High School cross country.  The boys won their second straight state title, the girls their first at the state championship meet in Carolton.  It was the first time both the boys and girls team of any sport had won state titles on the same day in school history.

Carl Ellis Corley defended his individual state title for the boys.  Macy Moe finished third for the girls. Though the teams didn't make it back in time to be recognized during Senior Night held before the final football game versus Southwest, they came onto the field at halftime to the cheers of the crowd.

The theme of this year's Bleckley County Middle School competition cheerleading routine was "Hit me Bleckley one more time."  At Dodge County Middle School Thursday, BCMS did just that, winning the MGMSAA Region Cheerleading Championship for a second straight year.  It's the first back to back championship forBCMS since 2006-07.
