It was a good day for both the Bleckley middle and high school cheerleading programs as each won their final competition before region.  BCMS won the small school division of Swainsboro High School's "Rumble in the Jungle."  Their region will be Thursday at Dodge County Middle School.  Doors open at 4 pm, competition at 5.

Despite having to make last-second adjustments due to a squad member out with an elbow injury and others being hurt, BCHS had their best performance of the season.  They stuck everything en route to winning the Last Chance Cheer Invitational held at Worth County High School.  Region is Saturday at West Laurens High School.  Doors open at 9 am, competition starts at 10.

BC Crush played in the 12-u division of USSA's Middle Ga Pink Out Saturday at Southern Pines.  They had some nervous moments, four games decided by one run.  But they were thrilling in the end as Crush went 5-0 on the day and won first place.

Bleckley County Middle School made their return to the blue mats Saturday at the Battle in the Boro hosted by Statesboro High School.  Though BC numbers wise is a smaller school, they were placed in the large school division because they had 16 on the mat competing.

Despite having to go against larger schools such as Richmond Hill and Ware County, the squad came home with their second top finish of the season.  BCMS has their final tuneup before region October 29 in Swainsboro.

MGMSAA softbal wrapped up Saturday at the Eastman-Dodge County Rec. Department.  Bleckley County Middle School advanced to the region title game by defeating West Laurens 4-3 in eight innings.  Though they lost to top seed Dodge County 8-0 in the title game, BC finshed region runner up.  It's the best finish for middle school softball since finishing region runner up in 2006.

Both the Runnin' Royals boys and girls cross country teams won the small school divisions of the Bleckley Invitational meet held Thursday afternoon in Cochran. Carl Ellis Corley kept his first place streak alive, finishing as top overall male. Macy Moe was second overall female. The teams travel to Tallahassee, Florida this weekend for the FSU Invitational.

House of Grace Church in Cochran held another dodgeball tournament Friday night.  Proceeds went toward the church food bank used to help people in the community.  The winning team was one very familiar with dodgeball, having already won four previous tournaments.  They called themselves LVPD.  Team members are Dusty Jones, Austin Jones, Spence Greer, Clint Wynn, and Kasey Lawson.

The BCMS competition cheer squad won the A/AA/AAA division of the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Morgan County High School Saturday.  You can view more photos from the competition here.  Bleckley will be at the Middle Georgia Cheer Classic hosted by Houston County High School September 17.  It starts at 9:45 am with BC going on at 10:15.
