Dodge Co. Airport Authority Rejects County Commissioners Request

In a Special Called Meeting of the Heart of Georgia Regional Airport Authority, members voted to reject a request from the Dodge County Board of Commissioners.

The Commissioners had met in an Emergency Called meeting earlier today and voted to request that the Airport Authority table its pending sale of river land to the public because Dodge County is interested in developing said property for wetland mitigation or other public purposes and because the property was paid for with public funds.

Airport Authority members DID vote to give the Commissioners a first option to purchase the land for whatever the highest bid turns out to be PLUS $13,000.00 to reimburse the Airport for legal fees incurred in the litigation of the court injunction. This was actually broken into two separate motions. First whether to give the County first option to purchase and second whether to ask for the reimbursement of legal fees.

In the matter of giving the County first option, Steve Greer made the motion to give first option and Terry Niblett seconded. Motion passed 5-2.
