People in Cochran will be able to enjoy the convenience of Walmart begining August 13.  That's when the new store, located at 366 Highway 26 will open.  A ribbon cutting ceremony is set for 7:30 a.m. with the store opening to follow.  Regular hours will be 6 a.m.-midnight seven days a week.

As part of the grand opening, Walmart will be giving $8,000 in grants to local groups.  Those groups are: Boy Scouts of America, Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office, Cochran Police Department, Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce, Communities in Schools of Cochran/Bleckley Co. & Family Connection Community Partnership Inc., Pilot Club of Cochran, Princesses with a Purpose Inc. and St. Michael Commandery #43.

A news release states that the store will hold "A Big Family Welcome" August 16 from noon-3 pm at the store. Customers can meet store manager Archie Swain and enjoy fun, games, as well as free food samples while supplies last.
