Eastman-Dodge County Chamber Announces Officers for 2013 | Business
The Eastman/Dodge County Area Chamber of Commerce proudly announces the following appointments as officers on the Executive Committee of the Eastman-Dodge County Chamber of Commerce:
Chair: Carla Jessup comes to the board with over 21 years of experience in education and leadership. She graduated from GA Southern University in 1991 with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education, Georgia Southwestern College in 1994 with a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, and Georgia College and State University in 2010 with a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. She worked as a teacher in the Dodge County School System and directed the Even Start Family Literacy Program with Heart of Georgia RESA. She is currently working with RESA implementing an educational project. She participated in the Leadership Georgia Class of 2005 and Leadership Dodge Class of 2006. She has served as coordinator of the Leadership Dodge Class for the past several years. She graduated from the Georgia Academy for Economic Development in 2011. She serves on the Executive Board of Dodge Connection; Communities in Schools and the Eastman Dodge Chamber of Commerce where she has also served as Vice Chairman of Community Development. Carla is married to John L. Jessup and has 3 children, Brooke, Brianna, and John Barclay and one grandson, Gavin.
First Vice-Chair/Vice Chair Business & Industry: Mike Harrell, Stuckey Timberland
Vice Chair Governmental Affairs: Dusty Pruett, Pruett Air Conditioning: Dustin (Dusty) Pruett is a lifelong citizen of Dodge County. He graduated high school in 1998, attended South College in Savannah, and eventually transferred to Middle Georgia College. Employed at Pruett Air for twelve years, Dusty currently serves as Vice President. Dusty has a strong desire to be involved with the community. A past president and Lion of the Year in the Eastman Lions Club, Dusty has also served on “The Club” board of directors for the last seven years and has been involved with fund raising for the FCA and other organizations as well. Dusty is married to Misty, and they have two children, Gracie and Brycen.
Vice Chair Community Development: Debbie Connell, Communities in Schools of Dodge County graduated from Lakeside High School in Atlanta. She received a Journalism Degree from the University of Georgia, and worked for local newspapers for many years. She is also a board member of GPEE, Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education. Executive Director of Dodge Connection: A Communities in School Approach, Inc., since its inception, she coordinated community based involvement of public and private resources whose goal is to improve the quality of life for children and families in Dodge County, combining groups like Family Connection, Communities in School, Prevent Child Abuse, Certified Literate Community Program in a joint effort with The Club of Dodge County, Even Start, Parental Information and Resource Center, the 21st Century Learning Center, Reading Buddies, their partners and mentors. Her hobbies include reading, traveling, horseback riding and public service. An active community volunteer, she, husband David, and sons Tyler, Dylan and Ryan are all members of Eastman First United Methodist Church.
Vice Chair Member Services: Stephanie Burton, Assistant Public Defender, comes to the board with more than 10 years’ experience in the legal field. A 1998 graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in History, Burton graduated from Mercer University School of Law in 2001. She has lived and practiced law in Eastman for the past 11 years, serving as a law clerk for Judges Phillip R. West and H. Frederick Mullis for the first three years, and for the past eight years as an Assistant Public Defender. She currently serves as one of the 2 Oconee Judicial Circuit representatives on the State Bar of Georgia's Board of Governors. Burton serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Association of Counsel for Children, is the Event Co-Chair for Relay for Life of Dodge County and is the Youth Director at Eastman First United Methodist Church.
Vice Chair Finance: Joey Marchant, Attorney is a 2002 graduate of Mercer Law School. A native of Telfair County, he moved his law practice to Eastman in 2008. He is married to Lori Marchant, and they have two children: Davis and Macy Grace.
Vice Chair Organizational Development: Martin Kehayes, Instructor MGC, Aviation Campus graduated from both the University of Georgia and Georgia Aviation Technical College (which later merged with MGC). A native of northeast Georgia, Kehayes and his family have lived in Eastman for about 13 years. Kehayes previously worked in Parks and Recreation in Athens, and is currently employed by Middle Georgia State College as an instructor in the Aviation Maintenance Technology department.
