Dodge County 4-H Summer Camp Sign-Ups begin Friday | Business
Georgia's 4-H summer camping program, administered through the county offices of UGA Cooperative Extension, offers a 4-H summer camping experience unparalleled in the nation. Over 8,000 children ages 9-19, accompanied by over 1,000 adult and teen leaders, annually descend on five unique 4-H centers for a week of camp that will be reflected upon for years to come. Every camp offers great adventure, friendship and fun, and all seek to develop the camper's Head, Heart, Hands and Health to make him or her a better person.
Georgia's five 4-H centers -- Burton 4-H Center on Tybee Island, Fortson 4-H Center (Hampton, GA), Jekyll Island 4-H Center, Rock Eagle 4-H Center(Eatonton, GA) and Wahsega 4-H Center (Dahlonega, GA) -- open their doors to campers looking for an exciting summer experience. Enthusiastic and well-trained camp counselors, Extension employees and certified volunteers work together to provide campers with unforgettable memories to last a lifetime!
This year, our Dodge County 4-Her’s will be packing up and heading to several different 4-H Centers:
Cloverleaf 4-H’ers (4th – 6th Grade) will be camping at Camp Wahsega 4-H Center in Dahlonega, GA June 10th – 14th.
Our Junior 4-H’ers (7th – 8th Grade) will camp at Fortson 4-H Center in Hampton, GA June 17th – 21st.
Our 7th and 8th graders also have an opportunity to attend Marine Resources Camp at Jekyll lsland 4-H Center the week of July 8-12.
Senior 4-H’ers which are our 9th – 12th graders have a couple of options this year as well: Senior 4-H Camp will be held at Jekyll Island 4-H Center July 1st – 5th. But also new this year is our Senior Extreme Camp which will be held June 10 – 14 at Frank Fitch Pioneer Camp at Rock Eagle 4-H Center.
All camp sign-ups will begin on Friday, February 1st at 8:00 a.m. at the Dodge County 4-H Office at 230 Foster Street, Eastman, Ga. and is on a first come first serve basis as spaces are limited.
According to Dodge County 4-H Agent, Keshia Jones, Cloverleaf camp was completely filled last year within one hour of sign-ups beginning. She is encouraging anyone who is interested in participating to make sure they are at the 4-H Office by 8:00 a.m. on February 1st with their $75 Deposit.
