Bleckley County organizations celebrate National Mentoring Month | Community Spirit
January is National Mentoring Month. Thursday, Communities in Schools of Cochran and Bleckley County and Family Connection Community Partnership, Inc. sent out a release thanking volunteers who participated in their mentoring program at Bleckley County Middle School.
CIS/FC believes "The key to a quality mentoring relationship is having a caring adult consistently show up for a young person." Mentors have provided 134 volunteer hours this school year. They consider good matching a key to success, matching mentor/mentee interests and personality. CIS/FC provides a free training session and also does a national background check.
Anyone interested in becoming a mentor can downlod a form from the Communities in Schools website or contact Gretchen Wilson-Tuck, 478-934-7270 (Extension 8002) for more information.
