Cochran Fire Department pays tribute to 9/11 heroes.

On 9/11, firefighter Stephen Siller, despite being off duty, attempted to answer the call once hearing about a plane hitting the north tower of the World Trade Center. He reached the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel but it'd been closed for security purposes. Stiller would walk one mile with his equipment to aid fellow firefighters, losing his life in the process. It was that selfless act that motivated Cochran Fire Chief Brock Wilicher to organize an event honoring him, and all those who responded on 9/11. He and fellow firefighter walked one mile from the station to Eastgate Plaza. Escorts include a fire truck, Cochran Police as well as emergency personnel from Heartland EMS.
