Dodge County 4-H Club Wins Numerous Awards

Dodge County 4-H is in FULL swing for the 2011-2012 school year and we are extremely excited about the opportunities that we will have available for our students.  We currently have over 1,000 Dodge County 4-Her’s which include ALL 5th – 8th grade students and also students who enroll from Dodge County High School.

We are the midst of preparing for Georgia National Fair competitions and are EXTREMEMLY happy to report a record number of Dodge County 4-H participants this year with 29 school-aged 4-Her’s showing livestock and 131 4-Her’s registered in other competitions such as the Scarecrow Contest, Variety Show, Homemade Ice Cream Contest and more!  Thank you parents and children for your support and participation, you continue to make us PROUD!

We also have our Livestock Show Team which consists of over 40 students this year and they are off to a great start in competitions already, our Competition BB Team (coached by Mr. Ricky Hargrove and Mr. Mac Sumner) and our Horse Club which is being led by Ms. Anna Clements this year.  We have something for EVERYONE so PLEASE encourage and support your child as the many opportunities through 4-H are introduced to them.

Our local livestock program has also grown rampantly over the past couple of years for both 4-H and our local FFA Program, with the growth of the program catching the eye of some very special people in our community who came together to provide us with a new Multi-Purpose Building and Livestock Facility which is centrally located at the Eastman-Dodge County Recreation Department.  These children are seen ALL OVER the state of Georgia in competitions.

I would also like to point out that Dodge County 4-H received several different awards for this past school year including 1st Place in Southeast District as County with Greatest Improvement in participation at Cloverleaf Project Achievement, 3rd Place in Southeast District for having the MOST 4-Her’s participate in Cloverleaf Project Achievement, 2nd Place Award of Excellence for having the Greatest Improvement in participation at Jr/Sr District Project Achievement and also recognition for reaching 137.5% of our Junior Camp Quota.  None of this would be possible without the support of our parents and volunteers, the encouragement from the teachers we work with and first and foremost the enthusiasm of our children.   Please help your child begin to choose his/her project for Project Achievement in February and March of 2012 and lets bring home ALL of the 1st Place plaques for this year!

As always, we are here to assist in ANY way possible, we are just a call away at (478) 374-8137 or visit  http://www.georgianationalfair.com/files/2011/05/4-H.pdf
