Title (Max 100 Characters)
Dr. Melinda Dennis, Superintendent of Dodge County Schools, and Dr. Susan Long, Principal of Dodge County High School, visited their Army JROTC Cadets who were attending the JROTC Cadet Leadership Camp at Fort Benning, GA. They were a part of more than 30 senior school leaders across south and middle Georgia who participated in the VIP Day sponsored by Muscogee County Schools. The VIP’s attended a briefing at Columbus State University followed by a short bus trip to Fort Benning to observe training. At Fort Benning, VIP’s met with and observed their young cadets as they participated in a time-honored tradition at the US Army Airborne School.
Each cadet conducted a parachute “jump” from the 34ft mock jump tower on historic Eubanks Field. Following the cadets, several of the VIP’s, including Dr. Dennis and Dr. Long, geared up to conduct an exit from the famous jump towers. Both Dr. Dennis and Dr. Long conducted terrific exits from the mock tower and are now among the more than 1 million individuals since 1939 to exit the mock towers.
