Dodge County Has 2nd Annual 9/11 Memorial 5K Run | Community Spirit

The Greer Foundation, with the help of countless volunteers, hosted the 2nd Annual 9/11 Memorial 5K Run in memory of the thousands of American citizens who perished on 9/11.

On Saturday, September 8, 2012, 119 runners of all kinds gathered on the grounds of the historic Dodge County Courthouse to pay respect to the fallen and run for Wounded Warrior Project. During the memorial service JROTC Cadets presented the Colors followed by the singing of the National Anthem by Macy Pruitt. 

JROTC Cadet Charles Wright then read a narrative of the events of 9/11 as a reminder of that tragic day in our nation's history.

The run was led by veterans, Eddie Hawkins and Robert Graham, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and September Sky Band was also on hand to entertain spectators. The run was a collaborative community service project between Army JROTC Cadets at Dodge County High School and The Greer Foundation. More than $4,600 was raised for Wounded Warrior Project.

Youth Male: 1st - Hunter Augins, 2nd - Michael Wrease, 3rd - Jacob Maddox. Youth Female: 1st - Brooke Woodard, 2nd - Jamaica Mitchell, 3rd - Claire Greer.
