Hawkinsville Church Holds Blessing of Animals Event | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Characters)
This is the time of year when Catholic and Episcopal churches are participating in the annual blessing animals to celebrate the feast day of St. Francis, the patron saint of animals.
According to The Very Rev. Gary Abbott, Sr., rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, “it is just a day to recognize these special animals.” Chances are you've heard the term "pet blessing," but aren't sure what it entails (no pun intended) or what the purpose is. Well, the simplest way to describe a pet blessing is: A spiritual celebration to honor our loyal companions who love us unconditionally.
