Bleckley County Getting Ready for Relay For Life | Community Spirit
Though the Relay For Life won't happen until May, a pair of teams are already on the ball raising funds. Porter Pharmacy has been active since late August with fundraising. They're asking for people to take pill bottles, fill them with change, and donate them. As team captain Robil Ballard put it "Donate change, to help make a change with cancer reasearch."
They're selling Porter Pharmacy T-shirts with all profits going to the relay. Prices are $15 for adults, $12 for youth sizes. On October 27, they'll be outside the store, located at 129 North Second Street, giving away free coffee. A donation to the relay gets you free coffee. For more information on these or other Porter Pharmacy fundraisers, call 478-934-6344.
The commitee team will also be busy this month. On October 20, they'll have a booth at the Cochran-Bleckley CountryFest sellng hot dogs and other goodies. You can buy a paracord braclet (lots of colors to choose from) for $3 right now. On November 2, the committee team will have a chicken plate sale in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot.
Cost is $7 and contains half a chicken, corn on the cob, baked beans, bread, and cake. To purchase a braclet or chicken plate, call committee chair Linda Warren at 478-230-4162.
