Special needs Student Serving as Manager for BCMS Basketball Team
As the Bleckley Middle School Barons warmed up for their game Thursday with Swainsboro, a new face joined head coach Dave Wiegert. Curtis Conyer, a seventh grade student with Downs Syndrome, will be serving as manager at all remaining home games. Wiegert said he asked Curtis to help and said he was useful and enjoyed trying to help fire the team up.
Curtis' teacher Libby DeLoach said that he loved basketball and that "he could shoot free throws with the best of them."
It was a good debut for Curtis as the Barons won 29-27.
