Hellos from Home for soldiers from Georgia
Hellos from Home for soldiers from Georgia
In the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it seems that most of our minds are on getting to the store before the crowd hits, making travel and meal plans and wrapping gifts.

Across the world, overseas, are groups of deployed soldiers who are keeping watching and protecting all of us so that we have the freedoms that we do.

One group is part of the the 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division and they are the BSTB(Special Troops Battalion). The unit is from Georgia.

A local group had first thought about making cards and getting packages sent to the group, then an idea of making video greetings sound great.  But then a light bulb went off.

Most everyone has a Facebook(c) page - the social media application reaches billions worldwide. And everyone is on their Facebook page at some time or another.

So a Facebook page was created, called, "Hellos from Home," dedicated to this Army unit, with one goal in mind - "to share warm wishes at ALL the holidays in the next year while they are there, and just ordinary every day wishes ... the Facebook page will always be there, and the soldiers can look at it whenever they want and see positive messages from people from all over the state."

No anti-war, anti-government and other such material will be approved or allowed on the Facebook page.

"Just a few words or a motivational picture is all that we are asking." Organizers of the page felt like it was the least that non-military personnel could do. "And it will be fun for their families too - to see that there are people who appreciate their kin."

The page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/hellosfromhome.

A challenge was set to get 100 Christmas greetings by Saturday, December 22 so that the soldiers will see them.
