Wrestlers Place at Area Tourny

Four Dodge County Grappling Indians placed in the Top 4 at the 1-AAA Area Traditional Wrestling tournament in Morgan County to earn a chance to compete in the Eastern Sectional tournament. Will Morgan, earned a 1st place finish by winning all of his matches at the 126 lbs weight class.

Will is a two-time Area Champion and is attempting to qualify for the fourth year in a row at the state tournament. Michael Wrease at 132 lbs and Aaron Spires at 285 lbs both lost one match and brought home a 3rd place medal.

Wrease is hoping to earn his second trip to the state tournament. Spires, a freshman, is attempting to become one of the few freshman who have a chance to wrestle at state. Another Freshman, JT Shields at 120 lbs, is also looking to earn a slot at the state tournament.

Zach Flagg earned a 5th place finish and Tyler Gruben earned a 6th place finish which put them just outside the top four and a chance to wrestle next weekend at Eastern Sectionals. Finally, Kenzie Graham and JaQuan Mann, both ended their high school wrestling careers during the tournament.
