The Dodge County Wrestling Club (DCW) recently finished up their season with six wrestlers representing the club at the 2013 Georgia Little Kids State Tournament. Placing first for the second time in his young career was Anthony Mannella who got his start at DCW several years ago and has been representing the Georgia national team for the past two years competing across the nation. DCW also had two first-time placers at state this year.
Jake Rogers dominated his opponents losing only two very close matches throughout the day earning a fourth place finish. Porter Faulk wrestled perhaps the best tournament of his career, also earning a fourth place finish, and avenging an earlier loss in the year in the consolation semi-finals.
Veteran grappler Josh Rogers battled through an extremely tough bracket but fell short of placing. McCay Turner faced a tough early loss to the eventual runner-up forcing him to battle through the consolation bracket. McCay responded by winning four matches in a row before losing an extremely tough match 3-1 in the consolation semis falling 2 points short of placing. Rookies Joah Gay and Kaden White experienced the excitement and competition of state for the first time. Both battled hard and will one day soon make their way to the winners platform.
