Turner Chapel AME Church hosting tent revival May 31.

Turner Chapel AME Church located at 163 N. Seventh Street in Cochran will hold a tent revival May 31 at 7 pm.  Entitled "Searching and Seeking Souls for Salvation," the event will feature sermonettes from numerous local area pastors.  

Bleckley Summer Theatre Camp traveling to the Jungle of Nool.

Bleckley Summer Theatre Camp has chosen Seussical, Jr. ​as their play for this year's performance.  Camp will be held at House of Grace Church, 133 Jac Arts Road in Cochran.  It's open to children ages 4-13.  Audtions are May 31 from 10 to 1 pm with camp dates June 3-7 from 10 am to 3 pm.  Performance date are June 7 at 7 pm, June 8 at 12:30 and 7 pm, and June 9 at 3 pm.

Local travel teams bring home trophies.

A pair of Bleckley-based travel teams had good days on the diamond Saturday.  Surge Fastpitch 10u fought their way through the loser's bracket to finish second at the USSSA May Madness in Cordele.  BC Royals, a 15u travel baseball team formerly known as the Bleckley Cyclones, won their season debut at CAMSPORTS-USA'S Southern Pride Classic played at the Highway 49 Complex in Gray.

Dayspring Trio at Limestone Baptist Church May 25.

The Dayspring Trio will be in concert at Limestone Baptist Church May 25 at 6:30 pm. Admission is free, a love offering will be taken. The church is located at 874 GA 257 in Cochran.

Despite an early deficit and losing a starter due to injury, Bleckley had a five-run lead going to the bottom of the fifth of Wednesday night's game versus Jeff Davis.  But they gave up six runs over the next two innings to fall in the semifinals 13-12.  To read more, click here.

BCHS Royal Singers Senior Concert May 19.

The Bleckley County High School Royal Singers senior concert will be May 19 at 3 pm.  Admission $4 adults, $2 students.

BCHS splits games with Jeff Davis.

Bleckley got a pitching gem from Tripp Purser to win game one of their semifinal series versus Jeff Davis but struggled in losing game two.  Read more by going here.

Graduation ceremonies for Bleckley County Success Academy will be May 17 at 7 pm inside the high school auditorium.

BCHS students show off artistic talents.

One of the parts of Bleckley Schools’ “Expect Excellence” motto is the arts. Student excellence was on display Monday night at the 2019 Art Exhibition. The auditorium lobby was transformed into a gallery showcasing entered works from students in Robin Raffield’s art classes. Members of the Royal Singers provided entertainment.


Thanks to the donations from State Bank of Cochran, Cochran Bank, and Citizen’s Bank, six honorable mention awards of $25 along with three places (third $50, second $75, first $100) were awarded to students. Those receiving honorable mentions were: Clara Rossi, LaTwiya Pitts, Austin Hiner, Delilah Smeltzer, Lauren Taylor, and Meredith Evans. Winners were as follows: Third place, Prayla Lockett. Second place, Arie Williams. First place, Kimberly Rodriguez.
