Laurens County deputies arrested a 22-year-old man charging him with the shooting death of Mike Whittle.

Whittle, 51, was shot to death Thursday morning at about 6 a.m., about 15 feet from the front door of his trailer on Howard Road near the Laurens-Dodge County line.

Jesse Rowland was arrested by deputies and state troopers a couple of hours later, according to a sheriff's office news release. He is being held in the Laurens County jail.

According to family, Whittle has just turned 51 on Wednesday and they had dinner for his birthday.  They say they didn't noticed anything wrong until they got the call the next morning.
