Three Arrested For Selling Synthetic Marijuana
Crime

Three people including the owner of a "head" shop in Hawkinsville were arrested for selling synthetic marijuana.

The new law making synthetic marijuana illegal took immediate effect when Governor Nathan Deal signed it last week.

Investigator Jamie Jones with the GBI's Oconee Drug Task Force says they arrested 3 people at Cyber Hippy, including the shop's owner, 52-year-old Pamela Whetzel.

They also arrested 69-year-old George Whetzel and an employee, Eva Marie Murphy.

All three are charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and sales of a controlled substance.

The investigation continues and more charges are expected.

Jones says they were selling various brands of the packs of synthetic marijuana even after both GBI and the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department warned them to stop a week ago.

The Cyber Hippy store is located on North Houston Street in Hawkinsville.

There was no answer at the store Friday.
