It is a story that most television and movie producers dream of - but it is not made for screen. It happened in real life. And  this week, the Dodge County Sherif's Office was able to solve an almost 14-year old case thanks to a DNA-required test.

Eastman Woman Dupes Senior Citizen

Sonya Sawyer Jackson, 41, of Eastman was arrested and charged by Dodge County Sheriff's Office investigators with five counts of theft by deception after she allegedly approached a local senior citizen for money.

Sheriff's Candidate Yard Signs Defaced

Several juveniles were caught after destroying some campaign yard signs, Bleckley County Sheriff Harold Lancaster says in a news release.

They were caught while the Criminal Investigation Division was investigating the vandalized campaign yard signs reported on Independence Day. 

Johnny Blash, sheriff campaign candidate, discovered that someone had spray-painted "FREE CHICKEN" on his campaign signs.

The sign's owner decided not to press charges against the kids.

Indictments Handed Down in Dodge County

The Dodge County Clerk of Superior Court released the most recent indictments from the June 4,2012 calendar Tuesday, June 12.

Most notable indictments include:
Kip Cravey, former deputy with the Dodge County Sheriff's Office and chief of police for the city of Rhine, was indicted with one count of possession of a schedule III, IV or V controlled substance and one count of attempt or conspiracy to violate Georgia Controlled Substance act. Both counts are felonies. A bond was set of $20,000 for Cravey. Bondsman was Eddie M. Williams.

Ray Carr was indicted on a felony count for sale of cocaine. Bond was set at $20,000. Bondsman was Holton Bonding.

Michael Chapman and Jimmie Gray, two prisoners who escaped from an inmate road crew, were indicted, each on one felony count, of escape.

Henry John Walker thought he could slip in some contraband-tobacco- to an inmate in the Dodge County jail and there wouldn't be anything said - Walker was wrong.

He is now being charged with a felony and there is more to the story.

Dodge Sheriff Deputies Make Arrests

Two arrested in Dodge for drugs, theft
Tabitha Anne Payne, 38, of Eastman, and Allen Nowell, 29, of Macon, were picked up Wednesday, April 11, in a shopping center parking lot in Eastman by deputies from the Dodge County Sheriff's Department fir distribution of drugs.

The two were arrested as a result of an undercover operation. Nowell was charged with possession of methamphetamines with an intent to distribute, while Payne was charged with possession of Schedule II narcotics with intent to distribute, as well an additional count of possession of Schedule IV narcotics with intent to distribute.
