Historic Longstreet United Methodist Church celebrates 200th anniversary in 2012

Special Services Planned Are:

May 20, 2012 Homecoming Service - 11:00 am; Rev. Doug Mays will be our Speaker.
Covered-dish meal follows the service.

After dinner entertainment is by:Jack Davidson and Ramona Giles.

If you need to attend services at your church that morning, please come out after that service and help us celebrate by sharing a meal and fellowship.


August 24, 2012 Hymn Sing – Beginning at 7:00 pm
"We will celebrate with An Old-Fashioned Hymn Sing. Remember hearing stories of people gathering at their churches just to sing. Let's try it again." (Wilene Foster)

Everyone gets to choose their favorite hymn to sing. We sing the numbers the congregation calls. Have your favorites ready.

TBA Video Memories

Presented by David Foster

If you have any memories or stories about Longstreet or any of the people related to Longstreet, please let David Foster have a few moments of your time to videotape those memories. We hope to have enough footage to share at a movie night. You may not think that what you have to say is important, but it is very important. We want to capture the soul of Longstreet so that future generations will know what this Church has meant to so many people. Please help us with this project. You may call 478.934.4530 or email marywillene@comsouth.net to set up an appointment or see David at the Homecoming Service. This project is for everyone who has ever walked into Longstreet's doors, or heard about Longstreet from someone. Interviews can be solo or in a group.

November 16, 2012 Christmas Open House – 5:00 to 7:00 pm

Come visit Longstreet as you begin to prepare your heart for the Christmas Season.

Hors d'oeuvres will be served.

December 14, 2012 Chrstmas Dinner and Carol Sing 7:00pm Come enjoy a meal at Longstreet.

You may never get to hear or sing your favorite Christmas Carols anywhere else, but come to the Carol Sing, call out your favorite carol, and everyone will enjoy it with you. It is a truly meaningful and spiritual service.

Please join us for our regular services: Sunday Morning at 9:00 am for a traditional worship service and on Wednesday night for Supper and Bible Study starting at 7:00 pm.

The Longstreet Cookbook (Cookbook, Picture Book, Story Book and History Book All-in-One) is finally ready. Be sure to get your copy, or reserve your copy today. All proceeds will be used for repairs, and maintenance of the Church, including a new coat of paint.
