BCHS One Act holding canned food drive at Christmas show.

Bleckley County High School One Act will have their Christmas show December 13 at 7:30 pm. Admission is $5 per person, or $3 with two cans of food. All food will be donated.

Cochran Blood Drive December 10.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive December 10 from 2-7 pm at the county extension office, 165 Peacock St. To schedule an appointment online, visit www.redcrossblood.org and use the sponsor code "Cochran." Bleckley high, middle school bands, holding Christmas concerts December 10, 11.

Both the BCHS Concert Band and BCMS seventh and eighth grade bands will hold their Christmas concerts December 10 and 11. The BCHS concert will be December 10 with the middle school concert the next night. Both will be held in the high school auditorium, each start at 6 pm. Admission is free.

City of Cochran to hold public hearing on Urban Renewal Plan December 4.

The City of Cochran will hold a public hearing on an Urban Redevelopment plan December 4 at 6:30 pm in the Community House, 192 S. Third St. According to a post on the city's Facebook page, primary objectives will be to promote housing development and reinvestment while addressing public infrastructure problems as well as unsightly and hazardous private property conditions.

Topics to include down revitalization, blighted areas in the city, and business investment opportunities. The Heart of Georgia Regional Commission is assisting with the plan, and representatives will be on hand at the meeting to receive public comments on areas that could benefit from reinvestment.

Bleckley County Retired Educators meeting December 5.

The Bleckley County Retired Educators will hold their monthly meeting December 5 at noon. Meetings are held at the County Extension Office, 165 E. Peacock St. Contact Kathy Jones, (478)230-7047 by December 2 to confirm your meal.

Wet weather forced House of Grace to move their showing of "The Greatest Showman" indoors Friday night. But those attending enjoyed the award-winning movie and also had popcorn to munch on.

Winter Wonderland Express returning to Cochran December 1.

The Winter Wonderland Express will be back in Cochran December 1, 8, 14 and 15 from 5:30-8:30 pm. A trolley ride into the magic of Christmas, children can write letters to Santa, both he and Mrs. Claus will be on hand. There will also be princesses, superheroes, some very famous mice, as well as singing chipmunks. Winter Wonderland Express is sponsored by Pilot Club of Cochran and will be at Heartland EMS, 256 Lucas Road. Admission $5 per person, children under one free.
