Lakeview Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming September 16 at 10:30 am. Former pastor Billy Vaughn will be guest speaker. Special music by gospel group One Purpose. Lunch to follow. The church is located at 203 Lakeview Church Road in Cochran.

Back to the Basics 101 celebrated the grand opening of their new facility Friday night. Following a ribbon cutting ceremony, guests enjoyed live music, games, Booocha on tap, and could shop for products. Back to the Basics specializes in healthy, natural foods and features Georgia Grown products. Second annual Hometown Celebrities concert benefiting BCHS One Act September 15.

Bleckley County High School One Act will host the second annual "Hometown Celebrities" concert September 15 at 6:30 pm in the auditorium. It will highlight the talents of both current One Act students as well as graduates of BCHS. Admission is $5 adults, $3 students. Proceeds will benefit this year's one act play cast and their competition selection "All Shook Up."


Cochran Masonic Lodge Fall Fish Fry September 15.

Cochran Masonic Lodge 217 F&AM will hold a fish fry September 15 from 4-7 pm at the lodge, 217 Masonic Drive.  Plates are $8 and include catfish fillets, fries, coleslaw and hush puppies.  Dine in or carryout.  See any mason or call (478)934-7236 to purchase.  All proceeds benefit charity.

Cochran church holding Homecoming, Revival services, September 9-12.

Emmanuel Missonary Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming September 9 at 10:30 am.  Guest speaker will be Evangalist Dr. Donnie Pollard, music by gospel singers the Believers.  Lunch will follow.  Pollard will be the guest speaker for Revival September 10-12, service starts each night at 7 pm.  The church is located at 353 Frank Cook Road.

Book sale will benefit church ministry infrastructure fund.

First Baptist Church will hold a book sale September 8 and 15 at their Senior Center, 109 SE Second Street in Cochran, located near the playground from 10 am-2 pm. Authors include Billy Graham, David Jeremiah, Karen Kingsbury, Jan Karon, Francine Rivers, John Grisham, Colleen Coble, and more. Cost is $1.00 for hardcover, $.50 for paperbacks. Proceeds will benefit the church ministry infrastructure fund.

Golf tournament will benefit church youth missions.

The Jimmy Hill Memorial Golf Tournament will be September 15 at the Woods Golf Course, 421 Mac Thompson Road in Cochran. Cost is $10 per person. Hot dogs with all the trimmings served at 4:30 pm.
