Middle Georgia College Diamond Club Announces 28th Annual Jamboree

Former Atlanta Brave Damian Moss will be the featured guest at the Middle Georgia College Diamond Club’s 28th Annual Jamboree. 

The extravaganza will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011, at 7:00 pm, in Georgia Hall located on the campus of Middle Georgia College.

Moss, born in Darlinghurst, Australia, was signed by the Atlanta Braves in 1993.  Damian made his Major League debut on April 26, 2001 and in 2002 was 5th in voting for National League Rookie of the Year. 

Damian finished that year with a 12 – 6 record with a 3.42 era in 33 appearances.  Moss is currently assigned to the San Francisco Giants and resides in Dublin, Georgia with his wife Emily and three daughters.

Tickets for the meal can be purchased from Diamond Club members or purchased at the door.  Current diamond club member’s tickets are free and non-members can purchase tickets for $20.00.  Less than 12 years of age is $5.00. 

Bleckley County High School Schedules One Act

Bleckley County One Act play will perform "Broadway's Best."

The performance will be on January 27 at 6 p.m.

Adult admission is $4 and student admission is $2.

TLC Casa to Host 2nd Annual Father/Daughter Dance

On February 5, the TLC CASA will host a fun-filled night out on the town with your favorite girl(s).

All proceeds will benefit the Eastman TLC CASA Visitation Program, also known as The Oconee Clubhouse.

Pictures provided by Smith Studios beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Parking and security will be provided.

The event is from 6 until 9 p.m at the Dodge County Boys and Girls Club at 141 11th St.

The cost is $25 per father/daughter couple and $10 for each additional daughter.

TLC CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates for children, is a nationwide program that works with abused and neglected children. The nonprofit organization supports children through the entire court process.

TLC CASA also provides visitation for children and their parents while the children are in foster care.

Cochran Masonic Lodge Pancake Breakfast Saturday

Cochran Masonic Lodge #217 F&AM will have a pancake breakfast Saturday morning at the lodge.

The even is from 7-10 a.m. on January 22.  Cost is $5 and covers all you can eat pancakes, sausage, coffee, tea and orange juice. 

Uniformed Law Enforcement Officers and Emergency Personel eat in for free. 

All proceeds benefit the Joe Lassiter Secret Santa Fund.

The lodge is located at 217 Masonic Dr. in Cochran.

January Blood Donors Eligible to Win Plane Tickets

There will be a community blood drive for the American Red Cross on January 24 from 2-7 p.m.

Those who donate will be eligible to win a pair of round-trip tickets from Delta Air Lines.

The blood drive will take place at County Extension Office Main Building.

The office is located at 165 Peacock St. in Bleckley.

 

Gospel Concert Scheduled at Local Church

Redeemed Quartet is scheduled to perform a gospel concert at Cochran United Methodist Church.

There is no admission cost.

The event will begin at 6 p.m.

According to their website, Redeemed Quartet is from Chattanooga, TN.

Miss Middle Georgia Queen of Hearts Pageant February 12

The 2011 Miss Middle Georgia Queen of Hearts Pageant will be February 12 at 1 p.m. in Walker Hall on the campus of Middle Georgia College. 

Cost is $65 which includes all optionals except photogenic which is $10 extra.  Age groups are from Baby Miss (not walking) through Miss (11-12th grade.) 

Checks, made payable to Lynn Young/Miss Queen of Hearts Pageant, may be mailed with the registration form to 102 Wood Oak Circle, Cochran, GA 31014.  Deadline for applications is February 9.  A minimum of 20 applicants is required for the pageant to make.
