Mariachi Band Comes to Hawkinsville

HAWKINSVILLE, GA.--La Cabana Mexican Restaurant in Hawkinsville will be hosting the very popular Mariachi Juvenil America Mariachi Band Thursday, March 1 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The band was scheduled to apepar February 23 but circumstances required that the concert performance be moved to this week.

Cochran Native Publishes 2nd Novel, Comes Home for Signing

COCHRAN, GA.--Cochran native, Tina Floyd Whittle, has published her second novel, "Darker Than Any Shadow," and will be in Cochran at "A Flower's Scent" on Second Street in Cochran from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 10, Saturday, for a book signing.

Her first novel is "The Dangerous Edge of Things."

Whittle, 44, has the perfect dinner planned, and her guest of honor would be “Jesus.”

Married for 25 years to her high school sweetheart, James, and the mother of a 12-year-old girl, Whittle explained her choice, “I have this suspicion that He wouldn't care for a lot of the words being tossed around in His name.”

She continued, exhibiting an inborn curiosity,“I'd be getting some things on the record … I'd like to settle matter once and for all.”

Grace Baptist Church, 511 Hawkinsville Hwy., Eastman, will hold revival from March 4-11. Evangelist David Ford will be leading the services.

Sunday's services begin at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Monday -Friday will be at 7 p.m.

The Free Providence Baptist Church will be having its annual Fruit of the Spirit program with Evangelist Kawanna Walker of Eastman speaking.

Region 3-AA Softball Player Of The Year signs with MGC

BCHS softball player Lana Maddox spent four years as a Lady Royal.   As of Tuesday, she's now a Lady Warrior as the Region 3-AA Player Of The Year signed with Middle Georgia College.  Maddox hitn.429 with eight home runs and 28 RBI.  This season, Bleckley won its first fastpitch region title and made it to the elite eight for the first time since going to fastpitch nine years ago.

Dodge Baptist Association Hosts 5K Run

EASTMAN, GA.--The Dodge Baptist Association is hosting "Out of the Darkness", a 5k run / 1 mile walk on May 12, 2012 at 8:30 a.m.

The race will start and finish at the Dodge County Courthouse located at 407 Anson Ave in Eastman. Registration is $25 and can be done online at www.active.com.

A race tshirt is included in the price of registration.
