BCMS Student to Open Bible-Reading Marathon with Shofar

Eli Phinazee (12 years old) is the son of Rob and Virginia Phinazee and a member of House of Grace. 

He will be blowing the shofar to kick off the opening night of the  ninth annual Bible Reading Marathon in Cochran on  April 27  at  6 p.m.

Christian Artists Come to Macon, Bleckley, Dodge, Pulaski

Girls Night Live, a spring concert tour, featuring Grammy nominated and American Idol alum Mandisa, along with Grammy winning and Dove nominated singer/songwriter, Laura Story, which began on February 19 in Omaha, Nebraska and will end, May 4 in Savannah, will be making a stop in Macon at the Macon City Auditorium at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 29.

The Dodge County Wrestling program will host its 5th annual Wrestling Awards banquet on April 20, 2012 at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

MGC Clubs Hold Prayer Rally for Trayvon Martin

Middle Georgia College students, area community leaders and supporters met Monday evening on the campus of Middle Georgia College as part of a rally/prayer vigil for Travyon Martin. The event which was sponsored by the Mulitcural Alliance and the The Middle Georgia College African American Male Initiative. Ed DuBose, president of the Georgia NAACP, was the guest speaker at the rally.

Club members handed out a bag of Skittles to each student present. Mr. DuBose spoke of the need for peace and the need for the students to finish college and the need to be registered to vote, so that the "college students can help the Trayvon Martins" of the world.

Officials of the event gave an estimated account of 200 present. This included Doris Harris, President of the Bleckley County NAACP, John Battle, President of the Dodge County NAACP, administrators of Middle Georgia College, including the school's president, Michael Stoy.

 

Local Church to Sponsor Softball Home Run Derby

House Of Grace Church, located at 133 Jac Arts Road in Cochran, will host a softball home run derby on May 5 starting at 11 a.m. 

Registration is $20 per batter, and participants must provide their own batter and pitcher.  Prizes will be given away for both spectators and participants. 

Spectators will be eligable to win a pair of tickets to the May 25 Atlanta Braves home game versus Washington.  Participants will be eligable to win Braves tickets plus a pack of 12 steaks from Country Meats as well as a $25 gift card to Hobbs Sporting Goods.  Concessions will be sold, purchasing a hamburger plate enters you into the Braves ticket raffle.  Registration is due by April 28.  For more information or to register call House Of Grace Church at 934-8424, or email pastorjoeywilliams@gmail.com  Proceeds from the day will go toward development of the church's softball field

Confederate Soldiers Honored in Bleckley, Pulaski Counties

Members of the Logan E. Bleckley Camp 1998 of the Georgia Sons of Confederate Veterans put out flags at the graves of Confederate soldiers in Bleckley County, and were scheduled to send some to Pulaski as well.
