10th Annual Turkey Trot

COCHRAN, Ga.-- Work off the turkey before you even eat it! The 10th Annual Turkey Trot takes place Thanksgiving morning.

It's a 4.5 mile fun run, bike or walk!

Registration starts at 8:45 a.m. and the race begins at 9:10 a.m.

Registration is free!

Bike riders, walkers and runners are welcome to participate in the 4.5 mile race.

All the fun happens at 965 Frank Cook Rd. in Cochran and is hosted by Dee and Richard Davis.

Actors and and Actresses Wanted

Actors and and Actresses Wanted

The Honeybee Theatre Initiative will have a One Act Play Festival January 28 at Middle Georgia College's Walker Hall.  The group is seeking actors and actresses for the six shows that will be performed that day. 

Three are dramas,  The Glass Menagerie, Scarcity, and Going to See the Elephant. 

The other are comedies, God of Carnage, Check, Please!, and Artistic Inspiration

Auditions for the shows will be held November 28 at 5 p.m. inside the Oconee Regional Library in Dublin. 

Auditioners may try out for one or all of the shows. 

No previous acting experience required.

Eastman-Dodge Chamber Celebrates Building Hope Opening

Eastman-Dodge County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of Building Hope Products & Services with new member Community Service Board of Middle Georgia with a ribbon cutting at the new MR Service Center in Eastman last week.

Located at 1441 Morgan Creek Drive, the new center provides training to developmentally challenged clients in Dodge County.

“We welcome Community Service Board of Middle Georgia, and celebrate their continued dedication to this community,” stated Eastman-Dodge County Area Chamber of Commerce Vice Chair of Economic Development Dusty Pruett.

Tripp Family Lights Up Dodge County Beginning November 25

The Tripp Family Christmas Lights is a family-operated regional holiday attraction in Yonkers, GA. Each year, the Tripp Family spends two months decorating their home with thousands of lights for people to view and enjoy. Visitors come from all over the region to see the lights with more than 5,000 people walking through the display every year.

The Tripp Family invites you to a free family event: the 2011 Christmas Lights display.  A true reflection of holiday spirit, the Tripp Family dedicates two months to decorate their entire yard and invites strangers to view their lavish display. Bring your family and friends to walk-through and enjoy this Wonderland of Lights in Yonkers, GA.

Warrior Up! Challenge Has Good Turn-Out

 The Greer Foundation in collaboration with the Dodge County High School JROTC Battalion recently hosted the first Warrior Up! Challenge.  The event was held Saturday after Veterans Day at the Eastman-Dodge Recreation Department. 

Designed to push runners beyond what they would typically experience, the Warrior Up! Challenge was a military style trail run. 

Runners sprinted, jogged, crawled, leaped and cavorted through a 2-mile course consisting of obstacles, mud, gravel, water, scrub brush, dirt and grass. 

Although the weather was less than ideal (we had to cut the frozen lock with bolt cutters to get into the venue!), 41 runners of all ages participated to test their physical toughness, stamina and simply buck-up in honor of America's fighting men and woman.

Run Results: Adult Male Division: 1st - Thomas Rogers; 2nd - Dustin Ussery; 3rd - Reggie Sheffield. Adult Female Division:  1st - Kathy Brown.
