Hawkinsville Couple Has Pumpkins, Christmas Trees

Hawkinsville Couple Has Pumpkins, Christmas Trees

Jim Wilson, hot, tired and in the middle of trimming and shaping Christmas trees on he and his wife's  60-acre farm in Hawkinsville, looked at his wife, and said, "You and your cotton-pickin' Christmas trees."

Wilson's wife of 45 years looked at her husband  and said, "Mine? These are your cotton-pickin' Christmas trees too." And hence the name of their residence at 120 Cordele Highway in Hawkinsville - "Our Cotton Pickin' Christmas Tree Farm and Pumpkin Patch."

A California-native, Linda Wilson and her husband, Jim, a Mississippi-native, are the parents of two boys and grandparents of four. 10 years ago, the couple was living in Connecticut, and nearing retirement, when Linda said, "We decided we wanted to move somewhere warmer and where taxes were lower."

Jim was retired from the Navy, and Linda had been a successful real estate agent with her own agency for more than 20 years. "It was time," she said.
