Mark your calendars as the Eastman-Dodge County Chamber of Commerce invites you to visit downtown Eastman Thursday, July 7th for Main Street by Moonlight from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. 

Local band, The Soul Shakers, take the stage at 7:30, and will keep you dancing!

Formed in the fall of 2010 in Perry, Georgia,  the Soul Shakers feature vocalist and harmonica extraordinaire Sirius Glory, drummer and vocalist Donny Screws, guitarists Cliff Lee and Kelly Milner, and bassist Phil Gibbs. These seasoned musicians bring to any club, event, or party an exciting mix of Blues, Soul, and Classic Rock.   With a sound designed to both stir the soul and get you on the dance floor, the Soul Shakers will not disappoint.

When your feet need a break, visit our downtown merchants, local restaurants, and games and activities for children of all ages.

Georgia Peach Festival Continues

Today, Tuesday, as part of the Festival, you can attend the  Spaghetti & Jazz, Austin Theater in downtown Fort Valley at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets $10 per plate, take-outs available


7 a.m.: Khoury’s Walk for Health, Peach County Courthouse

7 p.m.: Peach Idol and Big Peach Dance Crew competition, Austin Theater in downtown Fort Valley, tickets $5 at the door

Thursday, you can attend Picnic in the Park with live music at Everett Square, presented by Everett Square Neighborhood Association and Ace Hardware. That starts at 7 p.m.

Friday8 p.m.: Karaoke and dance music featuring DJ Bucky Helms at the Bandstand downtown Fort Valley

Saturday, June 11 

7 a.m.: 5K Road Race and Fun Run, Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast, Fort Valley First Methodist Church

Local churches to have Vacation Bible School

Salem Baptist Church, located at 107 Salem Church Road, will have its Vacation Bible School June 6-10 from 6-9 p.m. 

The theme is "Big Apple Adventure."  First Baptist Church, located at 101 South Second St., will have its VBS June 12-16 from 5:30-8:30 pm.  It's for children who've completed Pre-K through Sixth grade. 

Their theme is also "Big Apple Adventure."  Mount Calvary Baptist Church, located at 134 Abney Road in Carey, will have its VBS June 13-17 from 6-9 pm for ages 3 through fifth grade.  The theme is "Kickin' It Ole School." 

Those attending are asked to bring their Bible.  Light supper will be served.  Bethany Baptist's Vacation Bible School will be June 20-24 from 6-8:30 pm.  Registration is June 20 at 6 pm.  Their theme is also "Big Apple Adventure." 

Bethany is located at 608 Highway 26 East (across from Bleckley County Middle School.)

Faith-based recovery residence to open Bleckley Facility

Promise of Hope, a faith-based addiction recovery residence that has served women in Laurens and other counties for the past 13 years, will be opening a facility for men in Cochran.  The target date is October 1. 

On June 5, a groundbreaking ceremony for the facility located at 106 NeSmith Road will be held at 2 pm.  Light refreshments will be served.  To RSVP, please call 478-676-4673.
