Faith-based recovery residence to open Bleckley Facility

Promise of Hope, a faith-based addiction recovery residence that has served women in Laurens and other counties for the past 13 years, will be opening a facility for men in Cochran.  The target date is October 1. 

On June 5, a groundbreaking ceremony for the facility located at 106 NeSmith Road will be held at 2 pm.  Light refreshments will be served.  To RSVP, please call 478-676-4673.

Eastman, Ga. (May 26, 2011) – You can win prizes, for fishing….yes, fishing!  Register for the 2nd Georgia Bobberthon fishing tournament and you could find yourself winning some fun prizes.  Bobberthon is a tournament at which registered anglers have approximately two months to catch tagged bream in any of four public fishing area lakes. The angler then must register their tag(s).  These first few steps guarantee a reward – but then even more prizes are available at the Grand Bobberthon Tournament!

 

Groundbreaking Ceremony for Cochran Community Garden

The Cochran Community Garden will have a groundbreaking ceremony.

The event will be held Thursday May 26 at 6 p.m. at the County Extension Office.

The County Extension Office is located next to the Bleckley Memorial Hospital and behind the Bleckley County Headstart school on 165 Peacock St.

 

Eastman-Dodge County Recreation Department to Host State Softball Tournament

Eastman-Dodge County Recreation Department to Host State Softball Tournament

The Eastman-Dodge County Recreation Department will host their first state softball tournament for 7-8 year old girls on July 6-9, 2011. There will be almost 300 players and coaches visiting Dodge County for the tournament with a projected 6000 watchers anticipated.

Bodie Gray, Director of the Eastman-Dodge County Recreation Department is organizing an effort to welcome the players and their families to Dodge County with gift bags. The Eastman-Dodge County Recreation Department invites local businesses and community organizations to donate items such as water, candy bars, pens, coupons, or anything with a logo promoting your business for use in the gift bags. 

The Eastman-Dodge County Recreation Department will need to prepare 300 gift bags, and will need 300 of the item of your choice. Donations for the gift bags can be mailed to: EDRC, PO Box 4393, Eastman, GA 31023 or delivered to EDRC at 1027 Dublin Highway.

Bleckley Summer Theater Camp presents "Annie jr" June 13-24.

Bleckley Summer Theatre Camp presents "Annie jr" June 13-24. 

The camp is for students upcoming pre-k through upcoming third grade. 

It will be held at the Cochran City Auditorium on the corner of Second and Dykes Street. 

Camp will run 9 am to 3 pm June 13 and noon to 3 pm June 14-24. 

Community performances will be at the auditorium June 24 and 25. 

Cost is $125, $150 with costume. 

A $25 late fee will be assesed if not paid by June 7, the registration due date.

Cochran Community Blood Drive May 30

There will be a community blood drive at the County Extension Office May 30 from 2-7 pm.  Those donating will be registered in a drawing for two pair of roundtrip airline tickets from Delta Airlines.  The Extension Office is located at 165 Peacock Street.

Bleckley FFA Wildlife Camp June 14-17

The Bleckley FFA will offer a wildlife day camp for students in grades 3-5 June 14-17.  Cost is $150 and includes camp supplies, lunch, snack, T-shirt, transportation, and admission to the Raptor Center in Roswell. 

Camp will run from 10 am to 3 pm each day except Friday.  Attendance is limited to first 25 students who register and pay $50 deposit.  Remainder is due the first day of camp.  Checks should be made out to Bleckley FFA.
