Relay for Life Day at Saturday's MGC Baseball Game

It will be Relay for Life day on April 9 when the Middle Georgia College Warriors host Georgia Perimeter Saturday.  Drinks will be sold in relay for life cups. 

T-shirts commemorating the day will be for sale.  Both teams are tied for first in the GJCAA. 

The doubleheader begins at 2 p.m.

Junior Journalist Auditions

Junior journalist auditions will take place today at the Galleria Mall in Centerville from 4-6 p.m.

The child auditioning must be born between August 1, 1998 and August 1, 2001. You must bring proof of date of birth to the audition.

The audition in Macon will take place Tuesday, April 5 from 4-6 p.m. in the Museum of Arts and Sciences.

The children will be scored on the spot during the first round of auditions. The top scoring 50 kids will be called back for a second round, where they will answer questions on camera. A panel of 13WMAZ employees will judge those auditions. The top scoring 25 kids will move on to a final round that will be judged by a community panel. We will not contact the children between rounds 2 and 3. We will surprise the winning children in their classrooms before school lets out for the summer.

Battle of Guitars Begins in Chester Tonight at 6 p.m.

Battle of Guitars, a Middle Georgia tradition since 1973, hits the Old school gym in Chester today beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and 12 and under are free with a paying adult. 

Double Barrell Band opens at 6 p.m. followed by the Attaways at 7 p.m. The Battle continues with the Rocky Creek Band at 8 p.m. and the Lee Jessup Band at 9 p.m.

Concessions are available and all proceeds benefit the Chester Lions Club.

Registration for Georgia GO Fish Bobberthon Fishing Tournament Begins Today

Ready, set…Go Fish!

Register today for the GO Fish Georgia Bobberthon fishing tournament and get ready to GO Fish for fun and prizes beginning April 16.

Beginning April 16 through June 11, 2011, the Dodge County Public Fishing Area will be stocked with up to 200 bream in anticipation of a new regional fishing tournament, called the Bobberthon. Bream will be tagged in the Dodge County PFA, Flat Creek PFA, Hugh Gillis PFA and Ocmulgee PFA.  Anglers can register at community vendors in order to participate in the tournament.  If an angler catches a tagged fish, they will return the tag to the vendor in which they registered.   All anglers that catch a tagged fish are guaranteed a prize and will be registered for the Grand Tournament. 

MGC's Scholarship Gala Features Symphony, Dessert Reception

Middle Georgia College will hold its 9th Annual Foundation Scholarship Gala on Saturday, April 16.

A reception, dinner, and silent auction bidding will be held in Georgia Hall starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by an Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra Concert in the Walker Hall Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. At 9:30 p.m. there will be a dessert reception in Georgia Hall with the Orchestra, and the auction winners will be announced.

Combination tickets (for the Gala and the OSO Concert) are $60 per person and $40 per person for the Gala only. Tickets for the Concert only are $30 per person. A limited number of V.I.P. tables of six will be available on a first come, first serve basis for $500 each, which includes complimentary wine for the table and V.I.P. seating at the Concert.

All proceeds will benefit the student scholarship program at Middle Georgia College.

First Baptist Church to Have Community Easter Celebration

First Baptist Church will have a community-wide Easter Celebration on April 16 starting at 10 a.m. in the church parking lot. 

The celebration will include sharing in a unique experience of the meaning of Easter followed by an Easter Egg hunt.  Parents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and a basket for their child.
